Re: Speed dropped by a third
Well it's just dropped again so I've taken the chance and swapped it for the new one. It immediately updated itself and is now running firmware 5.14.6a4n. Can't remember if that's any different, but we'll see how this one goes.
Still no change in stats or speed, but I've now disconnected the Sky HD box from the phone line for good measure, So now, straight from the master socket I've got filter-router-phone and that's it, besides plugging into the test socket, I can't see how i can give myself any better chance of getting a speed improvement.

Re: Speed dropped by a third
Wouldn't be at all surprised
It'd been up since 9ish last night and hadn't dropped connection when I left for work this morning, around 7ish and I risked a couple of wireless app updates on my iPhone this morning before I left, but I think I got away with it!! The little wifi indicator was still showing on the phone when I left
Oh, and it was still stuck at 1020kbps this morning, all other stats pretty much as they were, so no speed improvements yet.

Re: Speed dropped by a third
The older firmware versions are 5.11, I believe. See if the updated firmware holds up for you.

Re: Speed dropped by a third
Now into day 5 of testing.
Forced reboot Tuesday evening aside, due to wireless drop and switching to the new router, I've seen no change in stats or speed, no reboots (it's currently been up 36 hours now).
Shouldn't something be happening by now? Reboots in the small hours, speed changes, anything?

Re: Speed dropped by a third
If your noise margin is hovering around 7 db, you might not see any more. Getting Sky to change the line mode to G.DMT would be your best bet. They should see by now that DLM is not going to improve it.

Re: Speed dropped by a third
If this was still the initial 10 day training period, I'd be inclined to agree.
However, for the first week or so it was as high as 1.8mb, then after a week I started having the infamous 2304 problems and must have had at least 20 forced reboots, both mine and after being instructed by Sky support to do so before they sent out a new router. Then after I avoided using wireless where possible I had another 6 days of steady connection, no reboots at 1.5mb.
Then when the new router arrived they started the 10 day training again. Which is when it dropped back to 1mb.
Sky have told me the line supports 1.8-1.9mb and should reasonably expect to be getting 1.5-1.6mb, but they can't/won't do anything until the current 10 day training is up.

Re: Speed dropped by a third
Well, it now appears the testing period has finished, yesterday in fact.
So testing from 1/5 to 4/5 isn't that a bit short? I thought it was supposed to last 10 days.
The line has indeed been capped at 1mb. Not happy
I've had a reply from a Sky advisor on the official forum now so I'll see if she comes up with anything, if not another call to tech support will be in order when I get home, I think.
