Re: Slow download speeds
How many telephone sockets do you use?
Is there a microfilter connected directly into each telephone socket in use, ensuring that nothing is before the filter?
Is the router connected to the master socket or an extension socket?
Are you using the short grey dsl cable that Sky provided, or running an extension telephone cable to the router?
Do you have Sky tv connected to any telephone sockets?
Do you have a test socket?

Re: Slow download speeds
If you have a Test socket, plug the filter directly into it and using the ADSL cable supplied by Sky, take and post your stats.
How to test your ADSL in the Master Test Socket

Re: Slow download speeds
Based on current line stats.
Sync at 2mbps.
Maximum download speed you will see will be around 200-300kbps mark from a decent server.
Probably slow downloading due to bad server.
Say its been downloading for a few days, expect torrents in use. Bad seeders and such you will get bad speeds.
Give a bit more info on what downloading and where from.

Re: Slow download speeds
With respect, the attenuation shows this line should get somewhere between 12-14 Mb. What is being downloaded has nothing to do with it. There is interference on the line which is reducing the sync speed. Even without improvement, with the line properly configured, he should get between 3-4Mb.

Re: Slow download speeds
Well looking at his post i can clearly see what he was speaking of which was indeed the actual download speed he is currently getting.
Currently downloading a game off steam at 88kb/s. Highest I've reached is just over 200,
And as you quite rightly say with att with that he should be getting much improved speeds.
Possibly sometihng is causing interference, or he may just be capped.
Ive noticed, that not only do people on this site understand DLM fully, but neither do some Sky Staff members.
So maybe DLM has got him capped.
All in all. Go to your test socket, still same speeds then ring sky.
Nothing here is going to help unless it is user error, or something within your home.

Re: Slow download speeds
Thanks for all the replies. Just realised the router isn't plugged into the master socket, but when I try to move it I can't seem to get the internet to work, micro-filters are plugged in. Does it matter that the phone is still plugged into the extension socket?

Re: Slow download speeds
A micro-filter needs to be present in every extension which is used by a telephone, fax machine, Sky STB, emergency caller, burgular alarm or any other telephone device.
The micro-filter must be the first item plugged into the socket in every case.
The only ever exception to this is where you have a filtered faceplate in the master socket and all the extensions are pre-filtered.

Re: Slow download speeds
Sorry for late reply. Plugged it into the main socket with the split front and I couldn't get wifi internet access to work. Does it matter that the phone is still in the extension socket?
