Sky F@ST Sagem 2504
Hi i was wondering if anyone could help
I have just joined Sky BB after being with there TV service for over a year.
I received a Sagem F@st 2504 Router in the post - My Activation date was the 26th
I connected everything on the 26th and no BB it seems to connect for 1 minute then reset and loose internet. I called up they fed me something about My changeover was the 26th but my line wouldnt be activated till the 27th.
I have turned on my router today and no change. I connect wireless usually. I have checked the forums and i get told to try ethernet and type in 192.168.0.1 but there is nothing appears as i have no internet connection.
Please is there anyone out there which actually knows what they are talking about as i really need my net up and running
P.S i have to keep resetting my router about 30 times before i get a connection to wireless
Regards
Jamie

Re: Sky F@ST Sagem 2504
Ok, firstly don't reset your router so often. This is actually interpreted as a faulty line by DLM and will cause your line to be slowed down.
Is it possible for you to connect to the router with an Ethernet cable?
Also could you confirm that the router is connected to the Master or Test Socket?
Some other things to run through, just in case...
* the router should be connected to a Micro-filter with the grey lead supplied
* the micro-filter must be the first item plugged into the socket, even before the Sky STB (this should plug into the socket marked 'Phone'
* using a corded telephone, dial '1' and listen for any noise on the line
* when connecting to the test socket, are all your extensions dead?

Re: Sky F@ST Sagem 2504
Hi Scubbie
Thank you for your help when i connect my ethernet cable to my pc it does not connect.
I was with BT before and the phone is connected direct into the Master Socket.
I tried an ethernet once yesterday and was able to connect to 192.168.0.1 but no internet.
now i cannot connect to 192.168.0.1 using wireless/ethernet.
Again today i am able to get my net up and running but after about 30 seconds the hub tick light comes on and it resets with no internet light.
my phone has a dial tone and dials out and recieves incoming calls. i have changed all leads and nothing maes a difference could this be a modem fault?

Re: Sky F@ST Sagem 2504
Are you sure you don't have the Sagem 2304, which has been giving everyone problems? Sky have not issued the 2504 for a long time, it was superseded by the DLink 2640S.

Re: Sky F@ST Sagem 2504
As Tom has mentioned, it is possible that you may have the Sagem F@ST 2304n. Perhaps the easiest way to tell them apart would be to look at the casing.
* The Sagem 2504 is a dull grey case, with pimples like those found on a golf ball.
* The Sagem 2304n is a shiny case (grey on top, black underneath) and has a smooth finish.
If you have the Sagem 2304n, then it can take a couple of minutes to connect to the line. It isn't worth attempting to connect before this initial period, believe me.
Another thing to try, do you have another router to hand? Whilst it won't log in to Sky's BB, you could check to see if it will get an ADSL signal.

Re: Sky F@ST Sagem 2504
This sounds more likely to be the Sagem 2304n. Check in when you get home.
If it is the Sagem 2304n, plug it in. Leave it in, for say 5 minutes and then try to connect to it.
If this doesn't work, I am guessing that you don't have any alternative method of connecting to the Internet from home, so I would encourage you to call Sky in this instance.
Their number is on the supplied booklet, but I'll post it here too:

Re: Sky F@ST Sagem 2504
Definitely the 2304, the 2504 has 2 yellow ports, 1 green and 1 blue. It also does not have silver ends and the Sky logo is not coloured.
Unless you have 'hacked' it you will not be able to use the BT Hub to connect to the internet. You can however connect it to the Sky router to give you extra coverage.
