Sky's non LLU unlimited broadband?
Hi guys
Just looking for some advice, im moving home and i have decided to add sky broadband to my sky package i am with virgin at the mo anyway although the sky LLU service is live in my exchange (braintree) they said they were unable to put me onto it. Just wondered if anyone else is using sky's non LLU package and if its anygood. I made sure sure that it was no the horrific "connect" package which i had a few years back and was a complete joke. I managed to waver the cost of the £40 line setup am i right in saying this would bacically be BT broadband as i guess they will be using there equipment rather than there own?
hope you can help
Many thanks

Re: Sky's non LLU unlimited broadband?
Cheers for that mate i have just logged into my sky and checked "the track my order" tab and its showing my sky braodband product as "sky broadband unlimited" so im guessing thats means i will be on the LLU package? It would say "broadband connect" under the broadband product i guess if it was the connect package wouldn't it?
Sorry for sounding silly mate its just i had such a bad experience with the connect package before and i wanna stay well clear of it so just wanna be sure, i just got thrown abit when the woman told me they could not gurantee it would be LLU

Re: Sky's non LLU unlimited broadband?
I would think that it would say broadband connect if it was, but to be honest I am not 100% sure.

Re: Sky's non LLU unlimited broadband?
Print the page off and make a written record of the conversation that you had today & whom it was with.
Later when you are connected to Sky, post up hear and members can quickly help to identify if you are or are not on Sky Connect.
If you are put on it, then you have cause to cancel promptly.

If it says broadband connect, definately connect.

Re: Sky's non LLU unlimited broadband?
Thanks everyone for your help i really appreciate it
The lady i spoke to said that i would get 3 months free broadband and no line connection fee, i saw an advert for bt broadband last night on the tv advertising 3 months free broadband so i honestly think i am on sky unlimited broadband using the bt equipment at the exchange rather than the sky stuff. It definatly wont be the connect as the sky people did tell me this is only for people who are not in a sky network and i am in a sky network area. The engineer is coming to me new house on the 3rd may so i guess a couple of weeks after that i will go live so i will have to post my router stats up i guess to get a better idea.
I know i can only get about 2mb in my area and i have no master socket in my house to test from to get the best performance but i do have a lot of sockets. 3 downstairs and 1 upstairs, is there a general rule of thumb to which one would be the master socket? The main port is right outside my front door and the 1st port is in the hallway would that be the so called master socket?
thanks again everyone

Re: Sky's non LLU unlimited broadband?
The Master Socket will always have a particular capacitor inside. It is around the size of a AAA battery.
Generally speaking, when BT install the Master Socket now, they will install an NTE5 socket which has a split faceplate. This is good because it quickly allows you to isolate the internal telephone wiring.
Older installations and many modern blocks of flats do not use this setup and the faceplate will often be one piece.
From what I have also seen, in some cases the Master socket will actually not be inside the flat, but inside a separate switching box elsewhere in the building.
