Sky's non LLU unlimited broadband?

Sky will offer their BT wholesale based sky Connect package when they have no spare ports on their LLU equipment in a Sky LLU enabled exchange. As your package is Unlimited they must have found an available port and put you on Sky LLU, as they don't offer an unlimited package on BT's hardware due to the prices BT wholesale charge for bandwidth, which is also why sky Connect is so heavily throttled.

The master socket should be the first socket the telephone line connects to from where it comes into the house, and will have a capacitor as mentioned above.

It definatly wont be the connect as the sky people did tell me this is only for people who are not in a sky network and i am in a sky network area.

Let's hope its not, but the fact that you are in a Sky network area does not mean you will go straight on to an LLU connection. Sky's equipment have a limited number of slots and when these are full, you are put on to Connect. This could be for weeks, months or in some cases reported here, years. Sky only have 3 packages Lite and Unlimited on LLU and Connect through the BT Network. There is no other option.

It is well known on the forum that users are often put on Connect when they think they are on Unlimited and don't realise they are until they post here.

thanks again everyone for your help, i am going to ring them 1 last time today as the order is only provisional and get them to tell me that i will be on there LLU package. The one problem i am finding though is when i ask them will this be the LLU package they dont seem to understand what i mean!!!!

As for the phone sockets i dont have any that look like the ones from the link i was given above, its just one solid plate like this

Just get them to confirm that you will not be on Connect and you should be OK.

I would love to know if anyone here is actually on the sky connect package if they could log into there mysky account and see what it states under there broadband package

The ONLY Sky broadband product on BT Exchange equiptment is CONNECT.

If you are on Sky Equiptment you can either have free or unlimited.

If they say its BT equiptment then it is 100% Connect package.

After speaking to them this afternoon they confirmed to be that it will be the unlimited service and not the connect package, once i am live i will post up my router stats just to make sure. Is there anything in particular i should look for to make sure i am indeed on the unlimited package? I know my line only supports a max of 3mb

Whilst all very true, it is also very true that in the past some people have ordered Sky BB Unlimited, only to find that they were on Sky BB Connect.

Since I am not privy to the conversation on the telephone or details of their accounts, I cannot say what was or what wasn't mentioned by the person in Sky.

An important service that support groups like this can offer is to inform the member that mistakes & misunderstandings can occur. It is then important to advise them how to spot the mistake and how to go about resolving the issue.

One way is to check the upload speed. On Connect 99 times out of 100 it will be 448kbps. It is possible to see this upload on Sky LLU set to G.DMT but the chances are very slim.

Thanks again everyone for your help, when i start testing my BB as i dont actually have a test socket to test from (the bt main socket is outside the property) would i be best to disconnect all the extension sockets in my new house? I think there are 5 sockets in total 6 including the one in the grey BT box outside my door
