D-Link User/Pass
I've had enough of the D-Link DSL 2640S and honestly, it's the worst modem I've ever had. After monitoring it for 2 days (That's all it took) the noise margin kept dropping, I'm also getting hacked (Zone alarm is blocking the attacks) and the modem keeps randomly rstarting itself so, screwing the Sky's Terms of Service, can I retrieve my Username and Password out of the thing and put it into my Zoom ADSL X5 that CAN protect me?
Also, I HAVE to have my PC on to use Xbox Live because ZoneAlarm hides the IP which nearly prevents the modem from getting intrusion reports.

Re: D-Link User/Pass
You should be able to get the username and password and use it in your Zoom ADSL X5.
The SPI in the router should prevent agains DOS attacks.
The only issue with SPI is that it can cause packet loss and affect online gaming
The QOS packet scheduler would also be rather handy for prioritising gaming traffic.
Could you post your Router Stats?
It might not be the router that is causing the intermittent connection.Links Router Stats Useful Tutorials Speed Test Check For Test Socket Repetitive Electrical Impulse Noise

You will get all the information you require in this section-
Extracting Sky Router passwords
You may be out of luck though if your firmware on the Dlink has been updated.
Edit: I now remember you are on Connect, another router will not help you with that.

Re: D-Link User/Pass
Is your current setup:
Master socket > microfilter > short ADSL cable > router ?
Do you have a test socket?
You look like your on Connect.

Re: D-Link User/Pass
That's the only socket in the house. I was with BT 1 month earlier and was with for 3 months with no problems. as soon as I plugged this Sky modem in, it has been 1 month of non-stop problems and now my privacy is at risk.
Speed at 4-11PM ranges from 3.4-4.3Mbps

Re: D-Link User/Pass
If the firmware has been updated, then it is still possible after using the recovery utility supplied with the router to downgrade the firmware first.
Unfortunately, my d-link seems to be stuck on the original sky_1.11 firmware, so I've been bidding on used ones on ebay, on the off chance that I might crack it again.

Re: D-Link User/Pass
The issue is if you are on Connect, then changing the router will be the least of your problems.
I Suggest you check Sam Knows to see if Sky has LLU in your exchange.Links Router Stats Useful Tutorials Speed Test Check For Test Socket Repetitive Electrical Impulse Noise
