I知 at the end of my tether...................
No Cable or BT infinity planned any time soon.
Nearest exchange is about a mile away and SKY advise 2 MB/S is about the tops I can get.
We have 2 I-Phones, 2 Lap-Tops, 1 Desk-Top, 1 Airport Express and one I-Pad on order (god help me!).
I知 obviously not running all these at once, however we suffer badly from constant drop outs / intermittent connection / no ability to stream music from I-Phones etc etc.
We so need an improvement to the 2MB/S....does anyone have ANY suggestions other than drumming up support on my road and writing to Virgin requesting they lay some cable?

Post your stats
How to get your router statistics
and from the Test socket using only the cable and filter supplied by Sky.
How to test your ADSL in the Master Test Socket

Re: I知 at the end of my tether...................
Hardly enough difference to bother about, if any extensions you have were dead with the faceplate off.. You have a fairly long line and you are never going to get much speed, but 3-4Mb may be possible.
You could call Sky and ask them to try your line on G.DMT. This often performs better on longer lines and may allow you to sync above 3 Mb.

Re: I知 at the end of my tether...................
It is basically ADSL1, uses less of the frequency band than ADSL2+ so is less susceptible to interference.

Re: I知 at the end of my tether...................
Your line would have to be a lot longer than a mile to be limited to 2 meg.

Re: I知 at the end of my tether...................
The OP's exchange is a mile away but phone lines can be laid in all sorts of odd ways which mean that they can take a scenic route around an estate and be several miles long before they get back to the exchange.
That's why attenuation is the best way of determining BB speed.I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

Re: I知 at the end of my tether...................
I believe your line is set to adsl on a 2047/612 profile.
Mainly because change to test socket did increase SNR but there is no increase not by 1kbps in sync speeds.
As I Hate Sky Answers rightly says you are likely to be 4km or so away.
Have you tried any online speed estimate sites?
Try samknows.com / or .co.uk. its one of the two.
Like the other chap said a g.dmt profiling max delays 32ms youll easily sync 3mbps, i dont see a reason as to why not further. Unless your line quality is really bad.
