hi transferred onto sky broadband couple of weeks ago all way through initial testing connection was 10 meg downloading at 950kbs once testing finished connection is now 8122 downstream with 34.5db annuention and 6.2 snr. ive tried different routers and directly into master socket with no change which leads me to believe my sync speed has been capped by sky in some way. can they do this and is there anything i can do about it. from reading on other sites with that annuention i think i should be able to achieve close to 12-13 meg. any suggestions welcome

Re: speed
Your noise margin looks a bit low, post your stats from the normal position and from the Test socket.

Re: speed
Yes you have been capped but this is normal.
Your speed was likely reduced due to the number of errors that were building when the line was set higher.
You are correct about the speed that you should get based on your attenuation.
The reason the you have been capped at that speed is because you have a low noise margin.
Do as IsItMe has suggested. If the stats are the same try another microfilter if possibleLinks Router Stats Useful Tutorials Speed Test Check For Test Socket Repetitive Electrical Impulse Noise

Re: speed
thought lower noise margins usually led to higher sync speed last isp told me to use a custom dgteam firmware so i could set snr to 6

Re: speed
You are correct but it can also build errors, or create an intermittent connection if lowered too much
The link for obtaining your router stats is in my signature
The only sky router that can use the firmware you mentioned is the DG834GT. Which unfortunately are no longer being sent out.Links Router Stats Useful Tutorials Speed Test Check For Test Socket Repetitive Electrical Impulse Noise

Re: speed
When you are connected to the test socket are all the other extension sockets dead?

Re: speed
Now from your Test socket please, check also that any extensions you have, have no dial tone when the faceplate is removed.
