Sync started acting up?
Hi,
In the last three days my sync has begun to act up!
Its dropped the original connection of around 3712 kbps to the figures below.
Ive been un touch with sky and a guy replied that he had set the line to 3070Kbps "which is max your line will hold. If we increase any
further it start giving errors" he said
I know the lines not the best but its run since being re-set by sky back in October last year and they said then - - its the max the line would hold
Well I need to let it run for a while, (as sky guy asked) but these figures are from the "Test" socket and I was just wondering what the most likely culprit for this behaviour might be and for some good old "nouse" from the collective forum folks
Thanks

Re: Sync started acting up?
What do you have connected to the test socket? Is it just: test socket > microfilter > short grey dsl cable Sky provided > router?
Any noise or issues on your landline?
If Sky did config the line to 3072/256, then a reboot should have you up to there according to the SNR. Power cycle the router and re-post the stats.

Re: Sync started acting up?
Thanks for your reply.
Well I have a filtered faceplate in normal events but am using the "test" socket with the sky supplied filter and cable + sagem router just to take the faceplate out of the equation.
My original problem was as I said in that sync dropped to the 1731 kbps Connection Speed after it was reset by sky.
He got back again after he reconfigured the broadband speed to 3072 kbps
and also changed the way in which they are sending the broadband signal to my home. He is also running a stabilisation program and has asked me to keep an eye on the broadband speed over the next 10 days. So I will leave off reboot for the time being
I did try the line test from that new American girl auto reader(old bt line test)
It indicates some echo on line and some noise so not sure what will happen.
The snr has been poorer since the new sv line thing.
I was going to post the new stats but as I speak I see the dam things dropped again to1824 kbps

Re: Sync started acting up?
They boosted it again but its dropped again
They said
"We have again managed to push up the speed of your Internet connection, please see below for what is coming to your router at the moment. I have to advise once again that this test will run for 10 days and to please be patient with us while we handle the best speed for you with the least amount of errors as possible this will ensure that you get the best from your broadband. Over the 10 days that the test runs you may find your speed dropping but once again this has to be done to save any future issues."

Re: Sync started acting up?
If they are really running DLM then it can help. The drop in speed and noise margin in your post 3 shows that your line is having issues.

Yes I think your right and its kind of what I've suspected.
Interestingly I just got back from walking the dog and noticed the green cabinet that's associated with my line has been fenced off and there are signs of a lot of digging and grey pipes sunk all around it!
Coincidence me wondersStuart

Re: Sync started acting up?
According to SamKnows, FTTC is being rolled out in your area. This is very likely the cause of the disruption to your connection.
This is overall both good and very good news if this is the cause.
Firstly it means you now know the cause. Secondly it means that you'll be able to consider getting FTTC in the near future.

Re: Sync started acting up?
Walked past the BTO cabinet again and its been replaced with a bigger green one - -seems like the fttc type.
I also reebooted the router (maybe I shouldnt)
but now get:

Re: Sync started acting up?
It definitely appears that BTO are affecting the wiring whilst installing FTTC.
Sadly home telephone products do not have the same service level guarantees that our home products have.
I wonder if Ofcom would be interested in hearing complaints about this kind of result?
