Activation - when?
I am due to be activated on the 29th which is nearer as we speak. But I was just wondering what the standard procedure is for activation and whether there is a certain time you get activated or would I be able to use the router from midnight onwards?
Cheers
Geoff

Re: Activation - when?
It really depend on a few factors.
Typically if you have a live telephone connection already, then the connection to Sky will take place at anytime during the day.
It will normally result in you loosing connection for a few minutes.
After that you're Sky router must be connected for you to enjoy a max d/l speed of 4Mb until DLM kicks in (anything from 1 to 4 days). Then the speed will gradually pick up over the next 10 days to your new connection speed.

Re: Activation - when?
It can take up to midnight to go live. There has been many cases though were people experienced little or know downtime between transfers.
Best thing to do would be to connect the Sky router as soon as your old one stops working. This is assuming that you already have BB.Links Router Stats Useful Tutorials Speed Test Check For Test Socket Repetitive Electrical Impulse Noise

Re: Activation - when?
I don't have another broadband service to transfer. The guy who I spoke to on the phone said it would be activated on the 29th but didn't give the exact time it would go live. Just said it was a remote connection - I plug the broadband/phone into the socket and it will work. I'm not installing another line in or whatever.

Re: Activation - when?
Best thing to do then is connect the router in the morning, when the 4th light(internet light) goes green then you are up and running.

Re: Activation - when?
I got activated at 12:00pm today so all is good now. Like you have said Scrubbie, they have connected me at 4mbps for now until DLM kicks in
and also on the MER network it seems.

Re: Activation - when?
Lucky you!
My activation day is today and I'm still waiting.
I'm at work at the minute but this page still shows I am not active: http://mysky.sky.com/portal/site/sky...ky/mybroadband
"Product: Sky Broadband Unlimited
Your order is progressing and we aim to have your Broadband up and running by the end of the day on: 29/03/2011"
I can't find a way to track it on the BT site without an order number. At what point would you bite the bullet and call sky?
*Fingers crossed* everything activates okay as ADSL24 screwed me about and cancelled my order on activation day.

Re: Activation - when?
To put things into context, there were a lot of issues at the beginning of March 2011 with DLM. This is what affected yourself.
I don't know how often this has occurred previously, but thankfully it isn't a frequent issue.
You and i will not have any access to BTO who will be performing the work.An indication as to whether the work is progressing would be to look outside to see if you can see a BTO van beside your nearest Green Box in the street.
Actual connection time can be any time during today, up until midnight. It is more likely to have been completed before then though.
