Amber Light.... AGAIN! "I don't believe it!"
Hi Everyone!
I recently went over to a Sky package (Sky+HD, Connect broadband and SkyTalk).
Two weeks ago I got connected to broadband through the supplied D-Link router.
My problem is, almost everyday the router will lose its internet connection and show the constant amber light on @.
I push in my pen until the second light blinks, release but it just keeps blinking, so eventually I turn the router off and on again, and this cures the problem for a while.
But this repeated procedure is a pain in the ****!
I've browsed this forum, so could it be the router not syncing somewhere? A faulty router or microfilter? Do I need to plug into the test socket? Are Sky 'Technical Services' any good?
Speeds have been good, up to 6.5 Meg, as the exchange isn't far from me, but Boy, it's frustrating having to keep messing with it!
Anyone got any definite answers on what causes this annoying issue?
All offers gratefully appreciated.

Post your router stats from the current position and also from the TEST socket.

Re: Amber Light.... AGAIN! "I don't believe it!"
Assuming everything is fine with your setup and there are no faults with the line, the most likely reason for this is your line being set to Fastpath.
You'll need to get your fault raised to CST to have this changed to Interleaved.

Re: Amber Light.... AGAIN! "I don't believe it!"
Fastpath on Connect has to be requested and isn't even used on LLU so that's not going to be part of the issue

Re: Amber Light.... AGAIN! "I don't believe it!"
This is not the case, I've seen many newly activated Connect customers (myself included) being set to fastpath. It was recently found that this is what has been causing most of the amber light issues over the last few weeks, after untold amounts of money was wasted on replacement routers and SFIs.

Re: Amber Light.... AGAIN! "I don't believe it!"
I did not notice the OP was on Connect. BT use a similar system but their case the router has to be booted everyday and not left connected like Sky LLU. If you are getting up to 6,5Mb you are probably on Fast path, which may well be the reason.
Post your stats anyway and let us have a look.

Re: Amber Light.... AGAIN! "I don't believe it!"
Some people on LLU would kill for fast path.
Don't think being on connect is a good thing regardless of fast path or not.

You are syncing at the maximums for your package so you should also try a performance test within and outside the peak time. Test Result You might have to try a few times to get it to work.
