Well I just plugged mine into the master socket and gained a whole 1.0Mb/s so im a wee bit happier now

EDIT : Actually i just plugged it back into the extension socket and its still the same? All I did was reboot the router manually to gain an extra 1.0Mb/s. Happy Bunny!!

I wonder where they are getting their conversion figures from? 18.6mbps converts to 18600kbps, not 19008. There are 1000 kilobits in 1 Megabit. They appear to be using binary conversion which is incorrect use in networking.

Does anyone have an explanation as to why my speed has increased 1000kb just by rebooting the router after the DLM had finished??! My noise margin has also increased from 6.9 to 8.9?!

Atmospheric noise.

Essentially you will get different noise margins throughout the day. Disconnecting & reconnecting a router will cause it to re-sync at the best noise margin for the particular time of day.

You may find that your noise margin drops faster in the extension as it is exposed to more interference. I have seen users in the past coming on and saying the speed is the same in the extension, sometimes accompanied by , then coming back and telling us it has dropped again, accompanied by.
