Upgraded to Sky Unlimited and something does not add up!
1st help thread so be gentle guys
Got the new house moved in and got Sky, they were doing a good deal on the unlimited broadband service they offer so we got it last week.
Speeds 'up to' 20Mb are promised and I'm not expecting those speeds but I went onto our account online and seen that our line can apparently only support speeds of up to 4Mb, which is a con due to the basic package basic capped and this one being unlimited we're paying £7.50 more per month for an extra 0.5Mb of speed. The speed has went up to an average of 3.5Mb but I've also researched and found out that out telephone exchange is across the road if I'm right.
Is there anything I'm missing here or should I give our friends at Sky a wee bell?
I've had a general read through some threads here and tried the faceplate tutorial (very interesting btw) which didn't increase my speed at all, but if anyone wants me to do router stats etc, can do!
I've posted a similar thread on a car site I'm a member of and a couple of Sky Engineer people got back to me, one fella stated that (his PM copied below)
Line Length: 2888 and your on a ISAM exchange i cant even edit your exchange you have a lot of errors building they are normally down til something at your side btw , extentions , faulty line , filters , etc
Phew long post, thanks for looking!

Re: Upgraded to Sky Unlimited and something does not add up!
Thanks for the reply, the exchange is Belfast Cregagh, which I can almost see from my house (LOL)
Router stats are as follows.
Connection Speed 4095 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 57.5db 35.3db
Noise Margin 6.8db 9.4db
Are those 3 all that's needed? The copy paste formatting sucks a little.

With that attenuation it is saying you are a long way from the exchange, you may not be on the exchange you think you are or there is a long route that the line takes back to the exchange.
Is this set of stats from your normal position? If so we need a set from the test socket if you have one or from your master socket if not.

Re: Upgraded to Sky Unlimited and something does not add up!
These results are from the one phone line into the house, I'm assuming that's the master socket. That's at the bottom of the stairs with a micro-filter in it and this home PC is in the third bedroom at the top of the stairs, connected wireless-ly.
Do you need one from the master socket with the faceplate off and in the test socket?

Re: Upgraded to Sky Unlimited and something does not add up!
Yep test socket if it's there but there shouldn't be any difference if no other sockets in the house. Also have you changed the filter yet?

Re: Upgraded to Sky Unlimited and something does not add up!
Not changed the filter yet, you get two in the package Sky send don't you?

Sorry about the delay, parents Sunday lunch!

Can anyone have a kind jeff duke at the results and see if they see anything?
Would replacing the faceplate help?
