Re: Bt Updated Speed Tester
I get this,
"FAQ
Performance Tester is unable to run the speed test for your telephone number:removed phone number. Please check that it is the correct telephone number for your service. Did you follow all the instructions given on the website, before initiating the speed test. If not, then please follow all the instructions carefully and try to run the test again. If you believe it is the correct number for your service and you have followed all the instructions then please ask your Service Provider whether you can use Performance Tester to test your Broadband speed. If yes, then ask him for the Service ID of your broadband connection and try again with this Service ID along with your Telephone Number. If this problem persists, raise the issue with your service provider"
Checked the FAQ's at the top of page but blank - also tried the user name @skydsl but no go either?
Thanks,Last edited by NewsreadeR; 07-08-10 at 09:35 PM. Reason: removed personal phone number

Re: Bt Updated Speed Tester
It won't work as you are on Sky's LLU network if on Base. It would only work for a BT based service, ie Sky Connect.

Re: Bt Updated Speed Tester
As indicated in your other thread, with the stats from the TEST socket youcould get another couple of MB, leave it in there and give them a ring, with the lenght of your line, that is the best you will get.

Re: Bt Updated Speed Tester
Base was 2meg I think anyway. So you are not a million miles away.
If the results are the same in the extension or the test socket, then that pretty much shows that the wiring is OK to me.
You could ring Sky and try to speak to someone who could confirm if you are capped or not. It is possible you could get a little more speed out if you changed packages, but not too much.
SkyUser - Potential ADSL2 Line Speed Checker & Calculator
ADSL2+ Speed Test
We estimate your line is capable of between 2mb to 3mb broadband on an ADSL2+ service.
This ADSL2 Line Speed Calculator is a best guess only, as to the broadband speed that maybe possible on your telephone line. The checker provides results of up to 24mb with the data that is made available to us. This is purely for indication only and should not be classed as the Line Speed that you would receive on any ADSL or LLU product from another ISP.
Due to the fact that your Telephone Line does not run in a straight line from the Exchange, the Distance from Exchange figures, are interpreted as if your Telephone Line is that exact length. In reality, you will find it highly unlikely that this is the case.
For a lot more detailed information about your Telephone Exchange and a complete breakdown of all the services available to you, please try our Broadband Availability Exchange Checker
If you are not sure of how to get your Line Attenuation, from your non Sky Router, please check our How to get your Router Stats Page~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~
