Re: Speed Dropped - Is sky capping me??
Sure, although i've never posted them before, so they may be the wrong ones
ADSL Link......................Downstream..........Upst ream
Connection Speed..........1536 kbps..............412 kbps
Line Attenuation...............53.5 db ..................32.8 db
Noise Margin....................12.0 db.................14.0 db
As i said before, i used to have a far better speed than i have currently, so could it really be a problem my end?

o.k, now you need to connect to the test socket if you have one and post the stats, the link below has the details what to do, this will show if it is an internal wiring problem, look for an increase in noise margin.

Re: Speed Dropped - Is sky capping me??
Yeah, the test socket... the thing is, i have no idea where it is? my router is plugged into a socket, in the hall, which is plugged into a soket in the living room, which then goes outside through the wall, and then up along the side of my house, and i think into the loft. Is there any chance of it being up there? And does everyone have a test socket?

The best thing i can say is to follow the external cable to where ever it enters the house and that should be the master, it should have a split faceplate.

Re: Speed Dropped - Is sky capping me??
ok, thank you, i'll have to have a hunt for it in the loft. It may be a day or two before i do it though, as i don't have time at the moment. But thank you very much for your replies, and i'll post the results of the master socket test if/when i find it
