Sick of disconnections - last hope
I've been with Sky Talk and Sky Broadband for over a year now and have had ongoing problems with disconnections - sometimes leaving us without a connection for up to 24 hours.
About an hour ago, I got disconnected again and plugged the router directly into the test socket with no other phones on but it still wouldn't connect for ages.
It is the black Sky (Netgear) router but I've also tried the white Netgear one originally - they both do the same.
When I plug the corded phone into the socket - there is no noise on the line. I've had BT check the line aswell and they say there is noise neither.
Here are the current stats on this connection :
Modem
ADSL Firmware Version 7.03.01.66
Modem Status Connected
System Up Time: 00:16:18
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
WAN PPPoA 298 413 0 1145 4575 00:01:16
LAN 100M/Full 739 772 0 395 173 00:16:13
WLAN 11M/54M 6129 4831 0 4610 644 00:16:01
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4091 kbps 252 kbps
Line Attenuation 55 db 34 db
Noise Margin 7 db 9 db
Obviously I have been onto Sky several times throughout the year who have tried lowering my speed down to a ridiculous 1MB (still disconnections) and tried 6 different ADSL filters with the phone connected, without connected etc. I am on Sky Max which is complete overkill for these speeds I know and would go to Sky Mid if I do decide to stay with Sky.
I'm thinking whether I should just get rid of Sky Talk and go back to BT and then go to Be Broadband on a monthly contract so that I can at least ensure it's nothing that Sky are doing that is causing the problem.
Any other suggestions on what I can do to find out where the problem is ?. I will try anything!
Thanks
Rich

Re: Sick of disconnections - last hope
your upstream noise margin is low - probably one of the issues leading to disconnections...you in your test socket at the moment?
