It will be worth holding out for a couple of weeks then Dave. Your very high attenuation means you will get not benefit from ADSL2+, but you will see a big difference when you move to Sky's LLU. Even with G.DMT you will be far better off than you are with Connect. You might not see a great improvement in speed, but throttling will be a thing of the past.

Keep your eye on the checker and as soon as it is enabled start hassling Sky to get you moved over.
In some cases it has taken months for a user to be moved from Connect to LLU.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Can someone advise,
I have only recently had my sky connect set up and in the morning my speed and stability of the BB seems very good although when i get back from work this drops dramatically. Now after reading many posts in this thread I am very concerned that moving to sky bb was a bad idea.
In all honesty would I be better cancelling my connection and moving to plus net or zen?
thanks in advance

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
I have just posted this on your other thread but I have put it here as well so you don't miss it.
Capping would not alter your stats, until you do what has been advised regarding the master and test socket nobody can really help, the stats from the test socket will indicate what is wrong or at lease where it is going wrong.
It is pointless asking for advice and then when you get it ignore it.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Hi,
Its really not a case of ignoring advice, its a simple case of not being able to carry out what is required as I haven't the ability to test my master socket!
I am very apprehensive purely because after being with my previous ISP I was messed around a lot to the point where I did cancel and paid through the nose to do so.
I really don't want this to happen again where I get through a period of time with very bad speeds during 5-12pm.
If it is the case of only being helped by testing the master socket then so be it I will try and work something out on my own and please dont get me wrong as I do appreciate any advice given.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Hi Smithy99
I wrote a letter to Sky on the 12th February 2009 outlining my connection speeds on Sky Connect. I quoted the SkyBroadband Terms and Conditions and specifically asked who is applying the restrictions between 5pm and 11pm. I have not received a written reply but was phoned this afternoon by a manager from the Sky BB department who informed me, due to
my slow connections, they had set up for me to connect to Sky Mid. Apparently they do not retain information on their customers.
I am on Sky Connect because my phone line is TPON (fibre optic) even although LLU is available in my area (Aberdeen Kingswell Exchange) . He informed me that he would investigate further and phone me back - which he did.
Sorry!! you cannot get Sky Mid - an engineer will phone you concerning your connection speeds. When the engineer phoned he informed me Sky had been running checks on my line for several days and averageing 7.1Mbps. I am averaging 6.5 Mbps from my computer but drops down to average 1.48Mbps between 5pm and 11pm. My daughter on the same exchange and on TPON using BT BB averages only 3.0Mbps daily. His explanation for the "throttling" - even although you are using Sky, Sky is using BT Exchanges for ALL their Connect Customers and BT customers have "first " preference on line usage and any "throttling" will first be applied to non BT customers. If I wish to receive a "reasonable" connection I have no option but to remain with Sky Connect until my TPON line can be replaced.Last edited by nandoh; 18-03-09 at 11:43 PM. Reason: misspelling
