Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Reading this thread has got me concerned.
Ive just got Sky connect after a month of waiting to be connected Im finally online and although the its's only been on a few days the speeds are lower then I expected.
According to the router the download speed is 1884kbps when infact its actually less than 400kbps according to some speedtest sites.
And as I play games online and Im in a few online leagues (Xbox360) I need a decent speed for the games that take place between 6pm-12am
So this capping will screw me up.
Ill wait the 10 days to see if the line settles but if I get these low speeds too often then Ill be back off to BT.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
You only get 8 days to reject the contract without penalty, so be careful you are not stuck with a dismal connection like many in this thread. If you have the slightest doubt, get out while you can.
Post your stats for an estimate of you speed.

Hi could not run Bt speed tester kept coming up with
Unexpected result received when querying the network to find your services connection details. Please try again shortly, but if this problem persists raise the issue with your service provider.
Thanks anyway

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
I wouldn't chance it, just get out, you will never be able to game with the way Connect is running.
Pings are all over the place, just move whislt you still can, don't let Sky talk you into staying, you will regret it for the 12 months you will be stuck with them.
Try Plusnet, IdNet or Zen, they should all give you a good gaming experience and I think they all have 1-3 month contracts just in case.
I repeat, IF YOU ARE A SERIOUS GAMER GET OUT NOW!!!! or even if you are a social one

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
You have a very high attenuation which will limit your speed considerably. The most you can expect with a good line is 2-3Mbs. Your noise margin is very low which with your present sync speed indicates that you have bad noise problems on your line. If you have one, plug into the Test socket, link below, and take your stats from there. This will isolate your internal wiring and any interference it is causing.
If you were getting Max speed (8Mb) before then something has gone wrong with your phone line.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Hi thanks for the reply.
My line speed should be 3.5mbps
Im currently using the test scoket lol doesnt sound good at all.
Ive had BT broadband on the line before and it was getting 1.5-2 Mbps with no problems
Edit: I have not been able to connect using the disc supplied as I get the message that 'Im not ready yet to go online' When infact Im online
