Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Full marks for O2 recognising there's a problem with speeds on their Broadband Access product but full marks for actually admitting it in print. If only Sky had bothered to do either of these things, in black & white, for all to see and to apologise for cramming as many subscribers as possible on to a service that's not up to the job. You probably know this Sky but Connect customers don't just judge you on your broadband service, whatever other services they get from you get judged as harshly as well.
Because of an unusable Connect service i now find myself looking for alternate telephone service and of course an alternate tv service, not because those services are bad but because i want to teach you a lesson. If you are singularly incapable of listening to your Connect subscribers then i see no point in paying for other services from you, one bad decision means i withdraw from every product Sky offers.
My Connect experience has tainted my eagerness to continue with your products again, it's as simple and as cruel as that. And that's a 3 figure sum of money Sky will lose every month of the year.....i wonder for how much longer Sky can go on losing Connect customers who then take their tv & phone subscriptions with them too?
I've already asked for my MAC code, logging on to the web is now something i dread thanks to Sky's Connect service and i'm sick of paying for a service that is now a joke. Right now IDNET looks like my future ISP and phone provider...you pay extra but then Connect only offers a Cinderella service where she buggers off between 5 and 10pm every night and i'm left twiddling my thumbs.
(Tried the BT speed test but my connection was so appalling the page couldn't load)
Thanks for you help and support everyone. I feel embarrassed for jumping ship instead of allowing Sky to get their act together but i just couldn't wait any longer, my money's been hard earned and i won't just throw it away on a service i can no longer receive.Last edited by colonelsun; 09-03-09 at 07:57 PM.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Here's some 2 pennies from my angle:
- Sky will not (at least in the foreseeable future), fix the problem for customers who are affected. They will not spend money on an outdated technology and service.
- They are slowly (very slowly imo) depending on the 'fix' to be installing LLU in exchanges and then moving customers across. Why spend money for the above when they are already spending money to put current/future kit in exchanges?
- It's just a drop in the ocean (this forum) compared to the number of people they actually have subscribed to their phone/tv+broadband packages.
- Persist in complaing and you may get a fix or discount, but you will most likely get stressed over it.
- Jump ship and get a better service. A lot less hassle than complaining. There are options, don't be afraid to use them.
- I've not heard or had such a bad service from any other ISP.
- Getting you to do speed tests for an extensive time period (more than several days/weeks/even months!) shows they do not have competent tech agents working for them! If they are clued up, then some simple tests will prove you have a degraded or mis-sold service.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
^ agree with that, especially the speed tests part...I've seen people email in results showing it's just in the evening that it's slow (which actually means Sky won't do anything as it's the traffic shaping that's slowing you down) and yet they still get asked to provide more information...
it seems some agents just don't want to tell people 'yes, it's us and there's nothing we can do about it'...-------------------------------------------

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
I didn't mean to aim my venom at anyone on the Sky User forum, i'm sorry you felt i was. On the contrary this forum informed me of my rights, gave me links to other ISp's and has continually offered support and hope.
My post was really aimed at any legitimate Sky employee that may stumble across these posts and may mention them to someone higher up the food chain....something not beyond the bounds of probability.
In all other areas, phone and tv, Sky offer what i would call a reasonably priced product with huge customer satisfaction, at least from me!!
It's only their Broadband Connect product i have problems with, a product offered to the market that wasn't completely thought through and was designed to attract as many customers as possible without any thought to how an acceptable service could be delivered to them. That Connect product, and Sky's inability to deliver it, and subscriber's experience of it is why it is having a knock-on effect on all other Sky products.
At no time did i think this forum was asociated with Sky or had any controls over how Sky behaved. My post was purely a rant from an upset Sky subscriber, nothing more.
