Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
That is also not cheap, as broadband take up in the UK has slowed to a crawl, most ISP's will not wish to put £100,000 into more equipment.
Sky grew at a huge rate, they were never going to keep that pace.
It will come but at the moment it is going to take time, companys are sitting on what the have, Sky will be many peoples first cut back in terms of TV if they hit financial worries.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Smithy If Sky TV start to have hard times. Surely they have to do more with BB as far as I can see their future is BB TV and to get people to view it they have to look forward not backwards when you pick up a drink you always say its half full not half empty.
another Bt test
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 4128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 3500 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1263 kbps
Sky Broadband Connect offers download speeds of up to 8Mb, upload speeds of up to 448kb per second and a 40GB usage allowance - great for regular users who download music and short video clips.
.Only a very small number of customers will be affected by this (less than 2%).
To ensure we provide a sustainable quality broadband service to our customers, we continuously monitor and efficiently manage the Sky Network as a whole. To do this, during peak times (from 5pm to 12am each day), we may slow down the speed that all Sky Broadband Connect customers can get on certain applications which we consider use up a lot of bandwidth (for example peer-to-peer and newsgroups) and which have a negative affect on other customers There are no restrictions in place for applications such as browsing, email, streaming, instant messaging and VOIP during peak times. We do not put restrictions on our network outside of peak times.
When you get someone ring you up to say you can now get Sky BB in your area
it is called connect why we are waiting to move into your exchange as I and probably a few more connect Customers received the same telephone

^^^^^^^^^^^
I am surprised your exchange has not been enabled, it covers a very large residential area, just the type Sky like. I think there may be a problem with actual physical space in the exchange and that is why it has not been done. Having only one LLU provider on it seems to support this.

Isitme
The exchange is NEWAS there is 23,525 residential and Washington is growing all the time and all around us is LLU to the north south east and west. What gets me is a large exchange always shows green I think what probably made Sky think was because NTL now Virgin have cables running in a lot of the villages but some people are taking Sky Tv and Virgin BB if LLU was to move in people would then be able to choose.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Hi! Steve
This is not a gleeful post, simply one for information.
This is the sort of speed you should expect (depending on distance etc) with an ISP that is not throttling. As you know if you are receiving these speeds the internet becomes enjoyable again and can be used as it should be used.
Remember, I was getting around the 1Mb speed at this time of night until I bit the bullet and migrated. I get between 6.7Mb and 7Mb all day long, even after 5pm!:
Hope things sort themselves out for you and others.

Hi As you can see ran another test
This is not a gleeful post, simply one for information.
I have a bad habit of never been able to give in as William Wallace once said you can take our land but you will never take our freedom in this case our freedom to use Sky BB without being throttled because of their mistakes.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
It's not a mistake, it is the design of the package, not saying it is a good design but this is how the package has been priced, you pay peanuts!!!!!
People need to understand this is how it is meant to be, that's the only way this package will run at the current pricing levels, Sky won't change it, to them there is nothing wrong.
