Looks like i'll be reading a lot of text tomorrow, with no pictures, and although i have the latest media players on my pc they'll be useless to anyone receiving the sub standard Sky Broadband Connect.
God, it's like living in the Dark Ages.....this country must be the laughing stock of the world.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
No bubble to burst...
When I originally said 'professional', I meant in the capacity to do my job to the best of my ability with the tools I'm given in an honest manner...
I'm in no means a 'professional' in terms of career - I don't have delusions of grandeur at ALL - I'm just trying to offer answers to the questions asked...
Now, if you don't like my answer then don't accept them...just don't try to act clever behind an alias, and I'll (try) to do the same...
BUT don't expect to try and wind me up without expecting an reply - I don't take kindly to those who try to undermine my attempts to help others...
Now, back to the case in hand...-------------------------------------------

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
hi all
as posted a few days ago had bt engineer out
changed bt socket and fitted new type bt face plate
speeds then improved for one night then went back to normal
it appears that the download limit on the connect package is not 40gb per month
it is 1.2gb per day.
that is what i was told by sky today
so if you exceed the daily limit you are throttled
it does not matter that you only download off peak or not
you will be throttled

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
I really think they should make their policy public. If they are basing it on a daily allowance, that is very unfair. If you don't download anything for a week and then download 2 Gb in a day you are throttled.
Something is seriously wrong

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
the drill is as follows...
you download over 1.4GB in a day - you're put into a 'pot' to be monitored...
if you continue to go over this amount per day for about 2 weeks, you're throttled as it would equate to breaking the usage limit if added up over a month (e.g. one week you've done, say, 15GB so over 4 weeks you'd do 60GB)...
after a week of being below the 1.4GB per day you'll be put into the 'normal' pot and life goes on...
that's just the jist of it...-------------------------------------------

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
You are no doubt correct IANTE, but should this not come from an official Sky source?

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
If it worked like that it would not be bad but it does not matter what you download between 5Pm and 1145pm the line is throttled as I have said numerous times I would be lucky to use 5GB a month I do not even use Sky Player anymore I log on and check emails then Skyuser forum thats it I will say that majority of connect Customer when throttled it hovers around 1Mb
Mine has been lowest 1.2Mb this month you can see what I get through the day and when Sky says below The minority will abuse being told go ahead and enjoy But no upgrade for connect is there on one hand you are being told do not worry if you exceed your allowance?
Our Base product allows 2GB of downloads per month, Mid and Connect offer 40GB, and Max is unlimited, (No Fair Use Polciy). Do not worry if you exceed your allowance, we will not cut you off or charge you extra. If you regularly exceed your limit, we will suggest you upgrade to a product more suited to your online needs.
