Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
It's not clouding my comments at all, I was also getting crap speeds but I just lived with it as I'm not one to complain...
My speeds have now gone back to pre-throttling levels so the fact I've not complained to Sky once is good - if it HAD stayed bad I was looking at moving to Zen, if it must be known...
Now, I'll help anyone who calls in as I'm a professional but personally - I think Connect is a good product for the money...OK, you have to have Sky TV to get Connect at the price you do - no doubt Sky would charge more if it wasn't a prerequisite - but that's just how it is and as it's a buyers market there's nothing stopping you moving...and I don't begrudge you for doing so, but to just slate Sky constantly on a forum that's meant to help Sky customers isn't really needed...-------------------------------------------

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
In answer to the title of thread YES i have gone from 2.5mg to 1mg if i am lucky.
Have phoned Sky twice made me do all the silly tests and making sure i was using the main phone point(although getting same speed from either point)both times i was cut off after 20mins .
Have given up with them now very rude operator last time in Northern Ireland and one before sounded well not sure realy sort of Indian with a hint of Polish very hard to understand.BUT
Have seen on Think Broadband forum that people asking for MAC code are having contract cancelled as well, making time offline a nightmare.
Anyway can leave Sky and not have them just cut you off?

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
^^^^^^
You are on Max so your problem is not really connected with this thread. Have you posted in the Help section asking for assistance?
If you are requesting a MAC make sure whoever takes your call understands that you don't want to cancel, that you merely require a MAC. You should not be cut off.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
absolutely nothing will happen, except the agent booking the engineer getting a telling off for wasting Sky's money...
if your speed is ONLY slow between 5-midnight then there's nothing BT can do - it's Sky traffic shaping, or the Usage management if you hammer your connection...-------------------------------------------

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
hi
i told the agent it was a waste of time as its only in the evening
i get slowed down and he insisted it was best to call out an engineer.
i only download between midnight and about 11 am so i cant see that i have
hammered my connection,
he told me i was well within my limits anyway
so will see what happens.
if i go to sam kn ows it tells me that the exchange is congested and the fix date is 27/02/2009 but it was 29/01/2009 before that
