Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Think thats the route I am going to have to go, contract is up a the end of next month. Probably going to go with Talk Talk. Have a friend with them and has not had any problems at all.
May think of returning to Sky if they unbundle my exchange but does not look like that will be anytime soon.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
FWIW, Sky just offered to half my monthly BB subs or let me out of the 12 month contract 11 months early.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Just to be clear this is in relation to my god-awful sync speed as well as the throttling issues. I'd be surprised if 'I'm being throttled therefore let me out of a contract will be swallowed by most' as I was technically mis-sold and service and have evidence to support. As opposed to breaking the chaps hand off and taking either of these options, and for the sake of this board, I've taken option 3 for the time being which is further technical escalation. Past the muppets in call centres I'm assured.
Brian, as I said, yet to take up the offer but I have the full name of the individual who was perfectly nice, and I shall post confirmation following the technical investigation and outcomes of this depending on the route I go down.
Currently O2 are 'upgrading capacity of my local exchange', if this happens whilst the tech investigation is ongoing I'm jumping ship, but there's little point in me jumping ship if I have nothing to jump to....
I'll update you all in the coming days.
cheers
paulo

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Thought i'd add my 2 pence worth on this subject.
Broadband package: Sky Connect
Normal Speed: 1.8mb (normal download 220kb/sec)
Current throttled speed: 900k (****)
Average usage per day: When i am at work till 5pm i use alot at night, when on leave it will use alot during the day .
What does this throttling affect? Browsing / Torrents of mostly 3GB a week, i have found i have to set them off at 8am for them to complete in the day.
My connection is throttled from 4pm onwards until 11pm ish. I have had a ticket with sky in regards to speeds at night, they mostly quoted its too busy at night and don't mention a throttle. I don't go over my 40GB either.
Currently located at the Narborough exchange and located on RAF Marham.
I have just moved rooms on base and had sky connect there, and before that i have sky mid in kings lynn. bit off topic but does anyone think i have grounds for getting my contract terminated early due to miss selling as the speed throttling was not mentioned when i joined connect back in sept 2008?
Thanks all
Dan

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Right got a call from sky, basically he admitted there is traffic shaping going on and its all managed by BT he also admitted that it was an agreement between sky and bt to do it, and that there is no plans to fix this issue (like iamnottheenemy) has been telling us, i said well wtf am i paying £17 for to which he replied "i dunno for the majority the service is fine but yours no its not a line problem and we cant help." also apparently Tier 1 will be informed shortly and they will be instructed to inform users on the connect package!
COMMENCE SWEARING!
ill start with what a bunch of money grabbing B*s***ds!!!
