Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Just to let you know I had a CST member tell me on the phone yesterday that your 40GB a month is split into 1.4GB per day.
If you go over that then you are crippled.
This only happened to me last week after 8 months with no issues.
What really annoyed me is it took SKY 2 weeks to let me know that that was what was happening, after wasting hours on the phone, e-mails and various speedtest, micro filter changes etc.
Suffice to say im out of here. as this is false advertising, I f I am on holiday for 3 weeks then I cannot possibly get my 40GB download in a month If I get throttled to 50k every time I go over 1.4 GB in a Day. I have never heard of such restrictive practices, and this almost makes BT look good in there bad days.
I have had 8 months of constant 8140Kbps download speeds.
Now im out of here I will be requesting my mac code and moving to O2 or BT (though the phorm thing worries me about BT) as they both offer unlimited for only a few quid more than Sky.
And who ever is 1st to unbundle my exchange gets my business

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Not meaning to thread hijack but was wondering if a higher power (Saturday? IAmNotTheEnemy?) could take a look at my most recent stats on Connect and shed some light on them?
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3008 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 34.0 db 22.0 db
Noise Margin 12.7 db 20.0 db
I've apparently had my line re-profiled so the 10 day training period is happening again (at least thats my understanding). Though there's been no change, things are as bad as ever, its its effectively dial-up most of the day.
I have checked microfilters and all the other Tier 1 gubbins Sky require.
My Speedtester.bt results are attached.
Any thoughts or advice?
This is frigging ridiculous
Thanks very much in advance guys

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
This is what I have tried to tell a few on here you are throttled at peak times regardless of your bandwidth use.
It would be good if Sly stood up and said there are issues that need sorting and held there hand up, even if it ment a raise in the price I'm sure the masses would prefer honesty and to pay more for what was a good service before the throttling than to be fobbed off like this, as it stands Sly are slowly building themselves a bad name.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Hi! Folks
Just an udate re my intended migration. Have received my MAC from Sky and guess what? The after 5pm speed has improved slightly and as things are now they will be suffice for my purposes.
I would emphasise that the improvement is marginal and if you are into videos/movies/live TV etc after 5pm the service is still very much sub standard.
So, for the time being I will sit tight and wait for my exchange to be LLU'd (probably in June/July) and see what happens after that.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
I know, I think you are right, but also if I do go it is going to cost me £170.00 (10 outstanding months) to extricate myself from the contract. No retention deals or otherwise were offered when I requested my MAC, they don't appear to be too worried about losing customers as there are plenty more signing up daily.
As I have said before, the speeds during the day are, for me, superb and that is when I use the internet most. I will put up with the 5pm-7pm period ( when I go off line) until being LLU'd and take it from there.
