I do think SHARKEM has now been correctly admonished over his unsavoury remark.
Can we now get back to the job in hand and try to sort out the problem of slow speeds after 5pm on the Connect package.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
There is no real problem, other than Sky will not purchase more capacity from BT, instead they want to expand the number of customers who are on their net, increase the number of exchanges which have LLU capacity, and fully unbundled services. The bottom line is if you do not like Connect then look elsewhere, for a simillar product at a siminlar price.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Once again its as bad as ever tonight, only thing i can do is browse which is not why i go on the net in the evening (Gaming on WoW is what i like to do). I really dont see how Sky and other ISP's get away with giving such poor service, they dont give you what they advertise. You could go to some substandard european country and have better internet connections that what we get, how is this possible in the UK.
I'm sick of how everything is to do with making as much profit as possible for as little money as possible in this country. If it means screwing over the customers to do this then so be it, as they have a lot tied down to a 12 month contract that they have to buy out if they want to leave, so they get their money either way, its criminal. I would rather burn my own money than pay for this atm but what choice do you have. I feel sorry for the people who are just signing up to this terrible service, i would advise anyone i know to stay away from Sky in my area as we dont have access to LLU technology.
I really feel like i could rant all night, im sick to the back teeth of having a service that wouldnt even match standards 10 yrs ago
.............and breathe.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
The problem with the connect type of package from Sky and any other ISP is that the capacity has a specific cost, this is determined by BT wholesale.
It is hard to keep everyone happy during the main peak times and make a profit, many ISP's Sky included have tried to lure in the customers with low pricing, this pricing is actually too low to keep the product running without the peak problems or without making a loss.
One of the ISP's who do the best in terms of capacity is Zen, they have a realistic pricing structure for this rebadged BT product so when capacity is needed they have the increased turnover to buy it and still maintain their profits.
To compare a similar package to the Sky Connect @ £17.00pm, Zen will charge £34.25 per month so you can see that if this is considered a realistic price Sky are only going to have half the capacity as their charge is about half as much.
I know this is a little basic figure wise and I cannot be bothered getting all the new central prices etc but as I say Zen have it about right to keep everyone happy.
In a nutshell, for Sky to run the Connect package with no real capacity limits you will be looking at them increasing the price to the same levels as Zen, they are clearly not going to do this as for many 1000's of customers don't perceive a problem and for everyone that leaves more will take their place.
Bottom line is that if you have no LLU at your exchange and Sky Connect is not working for you it's time to jump. Remember though, any other ISP's that are not in or around the Zen pricing structure can only do it in one way, by limiting capacity like Sky so don't go from the frying pan into the fire!!!
Just to add, Zen do offer lower priced packaged but they have a lower download limit, this may suit other people who don't actually download that much but want to game etc.
5GB per month is £17.61
25GB per month is £24.46
50GB per month is £34.25

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Your point is taken.
A lot of us have been duped to believe that we would get an average, maybe slightly above average service from Sky Connect but we are not receiving that expected service.
More importantly we are now locked into a 12 month contract with Sky who are providing a below standard product and to release ourselves from this contract would be, to say the least, expensive.
