There are plenty of sites like youtube out there, say I wanted to sign up to Sky Max but I'm not sure if they throttle or not, show me that they don't throttle, do a test after half 5 or whatever, download via torrent with a lot of seeders, record with a cam & upload it.
Now I will take IWNTE's advice and others should too-

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
The connect package is a stop gap before your exchange is Sky LLU Unbundled
Nay Steve, come on now, there are quite literally thousands of exchanges that Sky or any other ISP for that matter are never going to unbundle, ours being one of them. I know you are an optimist but I have said this many times before, for an exchange with less than a thousand connections (like ours) then it will always remain an M1 BT only exchange.
We have a couple of Openreach engineers live on our estate and I was talking to one of them a few weeks ago about this issue. He said that ADSL2+ is now off the agenda too and many small exchanges won't be converted now until the last possible moment that they can legally get away with it. Whatever Ofcon's intention with M1 exchanges the initiative has failed due to the fact that as no ISP is bothered about these exchanges then BT don't have any impetus to do anything either.

Average usage per day: A lot but do not go over the 40Gb limit per month

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Hm, I work for Sky in a tech role, and AFAIK the throttling for Connect users comes from BT, so switching ISP wouldn't help as long as you are going through their equipment at the exchange. Also note that they (BT) really don't care about if you can use it or not, if you go past their limit they'll throttle you right down to something that won't even load web pages half the time if that's what it takes just to get you back in line.
Long thread so not sure if this has been said.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
It's not technically from BT, Sky have a set capacity on the BTW network and if they exceed that BT will charge Sky a fortune. Sky, therefore, shape (throttle) the traffic on certain ports (all ports) to make sure they don't go over this capacity

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Technically it is BT who do the throttling as it is their network, but this is only because Sky will not pay them for more bandwidth.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Like I say AFAIK, it's not my main area of expertise to be honest, it's just that a couple of CST agents have whined about it to me before, although perhaps they're ill-informed. I'll ask next time I meet one.
Are there a lot of Sky employees on here then?

No, I added the cross when I left Sky - was just to highlight I'm no longer with the company. I'm also on o2 as my gf is on o2 so we get it cheap
I've no issues with Sky in the slightest-------------------------------------------
