Surprisingly I hardly noticed the speed drop tonight however my stats now are:
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
WAN PPPoA 145369 203646 0 0 0 0:40:07
LAN 16 0 0 0 0 0:40:53
WLAN 204888 146331 0 0 0 0:40:31
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3872 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 39.0 db 21.5 db
Noise Margin 4.6 db 20.0 db
Any idea why my sync speed is high before peak time but not after :/?
And no, my I do not have a master socket like in the link provided.
Edit: steve my sync speed is all over the place, I have no idea why.

You will not actually notice much difference in speed as the BT system works on a Profile speed which determines your actual download speed. As your speed is fluctuating so much, the Profile will not have enough time to correct, so will be more or less stuck at the lower speed. Do a BT test when the speed is high and low and you will probably find the profile speed is much the same.
* The amount of people on the line is not the only cause of noise, but it does contribute.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Hi I've never had great speeds ande am paying £17 per month for less than 2mbps all the time, it nevers slows down never speeds up. I'd be well satisfied with speeds of up to 6Mbps but it's just not going to happen in this forgotten corner of Kent.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Hi all,
Wonder if someone could help me....
I signed up to Sky (connect() and have been constantly having problems with the connection speed. the line would drop for minutes/seconds etc then eventually the whole thing went dead and they sent me out a new router. This hasnt helped.....
I checked the Router stats
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4224 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 26.0db 16.5db
Noise Margin 16.9db 27.0db
And it looks remarkably like i am syncing at around 3.5-4 meg each time, my problem is that i am getting nowhere near that amount!
I have gone onto the BT speedtest page this morning and got the following results.....
Download speed achieved during the test was - 224 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 50-500 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :4224 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 350 Kbps
So again i am expecting to be syncing round the 3-4 meg mark....
Having spoken to the wonders of Tech 1 yesterday (well your router stats say 4meg so you must be on that speed and we dont beleive speed tests) is there anything more i can do before I phone tech 1 and keep on saying i want to speak to level 2 to get them to speak to bt and redo my profile?
Thanks for your help

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
2 things are wrong (appart from being on Connect):
1. You should be in sync @ 8Mbps so I'm assuming you're using an extension or something?
2. The IP profile will be low until it see your connection steady at a set sync rate. The fact it's low means the line speed is changing a lot-------------------------------------------

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
thanks for answering Iwas
1. Plugged into the master socket, not plugged into the test socket at the moment though this produces similar results. should i post from when it is in the test socket?
2. Does this mean that they've already reset it maybe and its working out the best speed?
Thanks for the help

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
1. Yes as you should be in sync @ 8128kbps
2. No, it means your line is unstable and until the BT RAMBo system sees it stable it'll keep your line rate low (the speed at which you download)-------------------------------------------

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
1) put it into the test socket and now get
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7776 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 25.5db 16.0db
Noise Margin 15.4db 27.0db
2) does this mean that if its stable then it will automatically shift my speed up?
