Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Ahhhh, thanks steve. I think im covered. Took 3 bt speed tests last week, Although one was taken 5 weeks ago giving an actual throughput of 5 kbps
. Made a formal complaint (twice) over a week ago, and each time i rang i insisted they check if it was noted. This finally came down to "there's nothing more we can do, its down to bt's traffic shaping". The woman on the other line did say i was getting a terrible deal. Asked to be put through to cancellations but was disconnected. The nice woman did ring me back and said cancellations hung up when she was putting me through
. Lucky, i read through allot in this topic. Made sure that when i rang i just asked for the mac code.

Was a very good result for him, will do the same with the letter and then email. Got my mac code over the phone today and it was valid according to the ADSL mac checker. Will start the migration tomorrow. Thanks steve.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Thought I would give a quick update on this. Transfer to Talktalk went smoothly. All of a sudden the internet has come alive. Youtube, Iplayer, streaming music all works.
Talktalk have not yet put me on their own equipment. They have used BT's at their cost and will transfer me on the 1st September to the Talktalk equipment. At the moment I am getting a steady 2MB connection for free from them. As of the 1st September I begin my 30 day trial and will be increased to 8MB.
Sad thing is that even a free temporary connection at 2MB destroys the fluctuating cr*p from Sky Connect.
If anyone is interested the Talktalk router is a nice little design as it is desguised as a picture frame.
I have made one phonecall to support to query when the 8MB would commence and it took only around 2 minutes to speak to a human.
So far so good...............

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Hi, its been a few weeks since i have been here. As of last week i changed my isp from sky connect to ADSL. Went through all the procedures with sky eg: bt speedtest, escalation team (more than once).. Had been throttled everyday for more than 2 months and must have made more than 30 calls and even though sky warned me that if i changed isp, i would still be slowed as it is bt who are doing this and there's nothing they can do! Still had 5 months contract remaining but i received a letter from sky saying that if my mac code was accepted by another isp, they would stop charging me for there broadband. Have emailed sky since but got no response.
Since i joined ADSL last week...all the throttling stopped.
morning ADSL
evening ADSL
I am now able to play my one online p2p game....many thanks to all who helped and advised me
