Hi, my names stephen and i am new here. Im not what you would say..tech minded, although i have learned a little since reading allot of this topic.
Tbh, i had loads to say, but i got most of my answers here so thanxs all. Just like to say its been 2 months and around 50 call. All polite and friendly from me
Even had a openreach engineer out who told me that he took me off the 1.5meg line and put me on the 4.5meg line, which i didnt know we had.
I download next to nothing, 1 song 3 months ago, never a movie. All i did was play a p2p game called warrock.
Played it for over 2 years untill 2months ago. Not now though, not since the traffic shaping.
My last ticket closed yesterday with the result that sky have spoke to bt about it and and bt say its theretraffic shaping and sky say that there's nothing
they can do...thats the end of that!
All i want to do is get back on warrock, its not fair on most connect customers...i didnt sign up for this.

If i new it was going to stop i would stay with sky, but i dont. Later 2day im going to ask for my mac code (not cancel yet though)
and probably talk to one of the sugested ISP's Newnet, IDNet or ADSL24 (many thanxs).

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
An LLU service? I read something about that.
Im on West Lutton exchange, although its in East Lutton. Im less than 2miles from it. If i remember though it was not a LLU provider when i check with a link on here somewhere. I know there's a few exchange's around. Didnt know i could change though.
Here it is SamKnows Broadband - Availability - West Lutton (MYWLT) Exchange
and LLU providers..they use there own equipement.Last edited by stephen01; 21-08-09 at 07:51 PM.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Yes, LLU providers use their own equipment in certain exchanges and their own network which equals lower cost and more speed (usually both sync and throughput).
Sadly you don't have any LLU providers so you should choose a non LLU provider that is known for not using (too much) shaping and throttling e.g. ADSL24. More expensive but worth it to avoid having an unusable connection at peak times.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
I am afraid I was wrong, but only because you spell West Lutton wrongly in your Profile
There is no exchange called West Luton, so I assumed you were in the West Luton area, which is quite a way from your actual location.
BT will not change your exchange unless it is in their own interests, not that it applies to you. I am afraid you are stuck with BT or one of the re-badged resellers.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
My spelling can be bad at times..i'd better put that right
But many thanks to you both for this. I will speak to ADSL24 first and also, i will keep checking in and to will let you know how it goes. This is the only forum aside from my warrock clan forum that i have had any help from...thank you

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Have a look at the ADSL24 forum, things don't look to bright for their non-LLU customers. Bare in mind that this forum is owned and controlled by ADSL24

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
They dont seem too happy, but i noticed some of there low speeds are still ok for gaming 4me though. And if im right, its 1 month contract so it wont be a pain to switch if they cant get there act together. I was with bt before sky, i left because of customer service and throttling. I think i stared bad and im slowly climbing the ladder
Spoke to sky today, they said 3to5 working days by post or i can ring tomorrow for the mac code, which was nice of them. Did get told that i could be charged for the remainder of the contract...be surprised if i am as it was them that broke the contract.
