Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
* Broadband package: Sky Connect
* Normal Speed: 6.9mb
* Current throttled speed: speed goes down to between 0.2-0.5mbps at about 7pm
* Average usage per day: not much, only surf web pages mainly play world of warcraft
* What does this throttling affect: mainly affects playing world of warcraft, get disconnected when lots of stuff is happening which only happens when the connection has been throttled right down.
I have cancelled sky and am going back to bt on 25th august, been with sky for 18 months now, its only really been bad the last few months.
I'm going to send this thread to watchdog so the public can really see whats going on and maybe sky will do something about there sky connect package

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
I haven't had chance to contact sky yet, i've just been too busy between 9-5 and it is pointless to try and speak to them out side these hours!!
Something has changed in the last week either on my line or on traffic shaping management !! which I guess is more likely because other people are already complaining about it.
My Connection speed has just been completely random this last week, it's up and down like a pancake
I've done 3 BT speed tests (below) I couldn't capture the worst time when I was down just to 84kb/s and that really was like modem speed (ok slighty faster if want to be cocky!!)

If you don't remember my previous posts in page 128 or so..
I didn't order Connect, I ordered Max as my exchange is LLU and I knew I could easily do 40gb a month!!
How long have other users waited to get provisioned to Sky Max from the sh1tty Connect package, Im on my 11 month and I will not be renewing If I don't get put on to Max..

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
I would ring Sky this evening after 10:30 and see if you can get through to CST, they may be able to see if there is any extra capacity on your exchange, it is in their interests to move you onto the LLU as it is much cheaper for them.
If that doesn;t work, get the number for Customer Relations and tell them what is happening and say you want to either be on the LLU or leave..

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Well guys, heres the verdict.
1 week with ADSL24, no lag, no grief, no traffic management or throttling.
8.1 meg and a stable ping of 53 whilst gaming. Videos do not stutter and there appears to be no effect of peak time. With sky I never even achieved 7 meg, it was at best 4, and pinged at in excess of 120 most of the time.
I pay £19 a month (same as Sky)and have a 30gb download limit, which can be topped up. Providing you don't take the ***** you don't get restricted. Excellent tech support as well.
All i can say is big thumbs up and wish i changed sooner.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Arhh feeling better today :-)
I got round to ringing Sky Friday morning..
I went through to Broadband Tech Support which was a very bad idea!!
After 20 minutes of explaining my situation ie slow performance etc.. to an unhelpful lady, I slammed the phone down ending my sentence saying
"What you can't do a line test with out me being by my router!! Well your completely useless, BYE"
I then rang back and asked for Customer Service, this time I spent about 15 minutes explaining that I ordered the Sky Max Package but due to the exchange being full, I was put on BT's equipment on the crappy Sky Connect Package!!
This lady didn't say a word until I finished and she said
"Hold on Sir I'll just transfer you to Broadband Tech Support"
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I then explained myself a third time to a bloke, who really didn't know anything technical, (I couldn't quite understand why he was in the broadband tech team..)
He told me about 10 times that the exchange I was connected to couldn't support Sky Max/Unlimited and I kept arguing that it could, our conversation ended with him saying
"Sorry sir I can't help you, I will transfer you to sales so they can try to explain to you, that you can't get the unlimited package"
I then spoke to a lovely sales lady who within 2 minutes of talking to her said,
"Of course we can upgrade you, the order is done you will get a text with an eta of the go live date"
I said Thanks and put the phone down..
This morning I received the text saying I will be put on to Sky Unlimited on the 17th
So the moral of the story is don't waist your time with Tech Support speak to Sales!!
If any of you have any power in Sky please pass on the information that the last week the Traffic Shaping is horrendous and very un-predictable, my speed has been up & down like a pancake!!
I understand the Term & conditions but at the amount the connect package traffic management is unbelievable!!

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
* Broadband package: Sky Connect
* Normal Speed: 2mb
* Current throttled speed: 0.30Mb
* Average usage per day: A lot
* What does this throttling affect? Everything !!
This is sickening, I can't even browse the internet and when I complain they just say "traffic management" surely throttling at such an extreme as this is illegal, it's making my connection useless.
A bad day>
