Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Only after 2330/0000hrs to about well 3-4pm.......Then crazy stuff happens..
Usually by 10pm, plain text emails start to fail, some files get corrupted/take a long time to even download from a site like The Office of Fair Trading: making markets work well for consumers etc..
It just shows that with congestion, packets are being dropped/lost like crazy.

Bt seem to crush anything if it is not their products even Bt tests between 5and midnight seem erratic once showed 17kbps so did tests Skyuser and speed io and they both showed about 2mbs what chance has Sky connect Customers got when you are told to use the Bt speed tester and it gives erratic readings Lets hope on the 22nd of June it starts to improves

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Once after 2330/midnight approx. I can use this link
Speed Test (Uses triple chunk)
or Speed Test (to test single chunk)
to ALWAYS max my connection (well, at least to 616KB/sec sustained, based on my IP profile 5200kbps). I have been testing with it for about a year and it never fails to deliver a consistent max for me. Any time of day or night, it WILL show my true speed as it seems to have a very large capacity.
I always have to use Downthemall or similar multi-thread/chunk manager with 3-4 chunks, otherwise I will NEVER ever saturate 90% of my IP profile.
I don't have any probs with bt speedtester, it's either low in the "hell hours" or high in the good hours, but IT is consistent, although I can't check more than every 3 hours, so I can't draw a statistical analysis of any type as 3 hours will usually guarantee a change of download speed, thus affecting the ability to replicate speeds.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Hi IANTE so none of that is true about connect
The information you have got about the new Sky packages is correct. They are changing the Mid, Max and Connect packages.
Connect package is basically going ADSL2+, and I believe that it will soon offer upto 20Mb, like the Max package. Not sure about usage limits though. (This has since been revoked later on in this thread)
I don't know if the changes are going to affect all existing Sky customers, but we are aware that some older customers are getting their lines regraded to the new upload speeds atmJust a heads up, the Connect product is changing this month from using BT Centrals to IP Stream Connect.

That is, and is already running, but the 20Mbps is not as until BT have rolled out 21CN for everyone...-------------------------------------------

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
So could this be why my connection is no longer being throttled? Or am I the only one?
Since October last year I had been getting under 1Mbps during peak times in the evening, but for the last week or so I have been getting what I should be getting (just over 6Mbps) at all times.
I just hope it continues.
