Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Hey Steve,
Thanks for the quick reply.
I am infact paying £17 a month for Sky Connect.
Just emailed Sky a few mins ago, with all the info I could get (exchange status, speednet test, bt test etc.), and got an auto response telling me to use the web-form... I won't bore you with how irritating the form, and the email 'form' they send you, as I'm sure you've been through it before at some point.
Soo, just waiting now for a reply. I added on some extra info at the bottom of the email they asked me to reply to, but I have a feeling it won't get read and I'll have to go through all the stages to get to 'talk' to someone who knows what they're talking about...
Anyway, thanks again for the info mate. Will keep you posted on how this works out.
Cheers.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Hey,
Just an update on my problem...Its now 23:45, browsing seemed a lot faster, so thought I'd do another BT test:
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 6181 kbps
Does this still look like Sky throttling our connection, or something else?
Cheers.

Hi Great idea Sky cannot argue with that. the problem is what you have left to use from an IP Profile of 7150kbps between 5pm and 12midnight 112kbps is unusable so Sky have to do something. To make it usable.

Your DSL connection rate: 4064 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 3500 kbps

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Hi Steve,
Got you now, so they're definatly throttling the hell out of us then.
I think I'll go ahead and write to them. Shame really, the connection is fantastic in the day on my odd day off mid-week.
Ah well, will see what happens next, hopefully as our speeds are so low we might be able to get out of the contract early.
Thanks for all your help Steve.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Ahaa solved it, for some reason my Lan MAC address is different to my ADSL MAC address and so when I entered the other one it worked, so at 9:35 am

Its great your getting your results your can only do them every 2 hours, so i would suggest 2pm 4pm, 6pm, 8pm... and then calling sky about these results make sure you keep them as proof even tho sky can access them.

As steve says, thats the best you can do for now, yourself and many others are in the same boat, sky are throttling the nuts outta us, and its a shame as connect "was" a good package till late october!
Both you 2 However, with the right proof that you are being slowed to an extent that its unusable ie: your speed tests, with about 3 days results all showing the same problem you can legally terminate your contract without having to pay a fee, and there is a bit in there T&Cs about it! if i find it or anyone else then it will help

Sorry to see you are getting the same problems that dozens have experienced and have fully reported on this particular forum.
It would appear that you haven't looked back through the posts and learned that this problem has been happening for around 6 months now. If you do take the time to read the comments maybe you could save yourself some stress and valuable time.
To use your words, Yes, they are throttling the hell out of us/you between 5pm & 12pm 'ish. Absolutely no question.

"Does anyone have any advice as to what I should do, should I get another provider and if so who? and is it possible to get out of my contract on the broadband due to the fact that I can't use my connection for what I want from the time I get home from work till the time I go to bed?"
Simply read the hundreds of earlier posts on this forum and most, if not all, of your questions will be answered fully.

Re: Sky Connect Broadband - Are you being slowed down?
Well thanks for this insightful post, and no I did not read through 1000+ posts on this thread. Yes it does seem I am getting throttled like the rest of the people on here; does that mean I'm not entitled to post? Surely if everyone went by your view this topic would have a lot less posts?
If you have nothing helpful to add, why even bother taking the time to write out such a sarcastic post?
Anyway, thankyou again Steve for the help. I've contacted Sky again with the BT test I did off-peak. I hope with my speed being lower than dialup I'll have a chance of cutting my contract early!
