Go to Samknows Broadband - Comprehensive Broadband Information and see what ISP's have LLU at your exchange, I would recommend you choose one of them.


With respect to some of the throttled speeds us gamers are getting some should be still able to play but I noticed the connection is so unstable that connection pings to the servers are jumping all over the place, my last night(yes new ISP today) and the ping was jumping from 70 to 140 every few seconds, normal daytime ping is around 50. This is playing Call of Duty World at War by the way.
Mind I did laugh when my friends said I would do 400mph across a map and then suddenly stop mid air like road runner as I lagged out.

Which ISP did you go with ?

Are they any good or is it too early to tell ?

if you have no LLU available to you you want to ideally go for an ISP that offer only BT Wholesale products - I'd assume they'd have more capacity and not have to traffic shape as much...

Nah I'm very limited on LLU isp's(Orange Talk Talk Bulldog) at my exchange so went BT

I did however get hold of easynet and ask if they had any intentions of unbundling my exchange but they said it was not planned for 2009.

The only LLU i have at my exchange are AOL or talk talk. I called Talk Talk today and they told me the best I could expect would be 2.7 MB which I thought was kinda crap. I am getting around about that on sky when its not throttled so hardly worth changing over for

Current throttled speed: 1288 Kbps - 1880Kbps
Average usage per day: Minimal browsing in the day / online gaming at night
What does this throttling affect? Warhammer Online completely unplayable due to extreme lag

Had problems with speed since Oct 24th. Sky took several weeks to tell me BT was capping me for going over the download limit (once!)
Has been ok over Christmas.
In past 5 days or so the speed after 5pm has dropped off a lot.

My connection is all over the place on Connect. I'm physically disabled and bed-ridden so the web is my only window on life and yet i can't access most of the web because of my connection. I did at least hope that Sky Broadband Connect would allow me to view movie clips but i was wrong, i have always had to click on the 56K (dial up) button to watch clips and now 56K is just a memory......last night i watched a BBC news report frame by frame...and i'm paying £18 a month for that right!!

Don't Sky realise that if their Connect customers are receiving this poor a service they will simply go elsewhere? I have my tv, phone and of course broadband with them but i'm looking for other suppliers. And from what my friends tell me they'll be doing the same.

Sky...you cannot expect a re badged BT product at £18 a month that acts like a dial up product to satisfy your customers for long...we won't be ripped off.

colonelsun don't let this get you down, I'm sure there is light at the end of the tunnel, just approach it with the attitude that it is one of life little hiccups.
