Broadband Connects For A Second Then Drops
Well as the title says i'm having connection issues with my SKY broadband box.
The router starts up (Netgear), internet light flashes orange then goes green then goes off once more. If i pull up the router status page whilst the light is green i can see it has made a connection at around 3000-3100kbps.
Have tried the usual:
Connected To Master Socket, removed all other phones etc from line, tried different microfilters, rebooted the router, tried another router.
I have phoned up SKY and they're supposedly putting something on to BT but that's going to take 72 hours apparently.
Anyone can think of anything else I can try to fix it? Anyone else experience issues of this sort before and have any idea on the overall time-frame?

Re: Broadband Connects For A Second Then Drops
first of all make sure you have no extension cables and then try and connect to your test socket. leave it 72 hours before phoning sky again and if your still experiencing problems then give them another call. as long as you have no extension cables, correct microfilter setup and your in your test socket you will fly through tier one troubleshooting.

Re: Broadband Connects For A Second Then Drops
There is no "test socket" the house is old and was not fitted with a BT NTE-5 Phone Socket. Thanks for your suggestions though, i'll try disconnecting all the extensions from the line and just have the one master socket.

Re: Broadband Connects For A Second Then Drops
Ok well BT turned up today and the problem was established to be faulty underground insulation on the phone wires resulting in the connectors becoming eroded through water damage. Now all that is fixed my Sync Speed has dropped from 2600ish down and 700ish up to 2048kbps down and 416 up. The new 2048/416 does not vary when plugged into a different phone socket/directly into the master socket, using the SKY router in comparison to a Linksys AM200 modem (Praised For It's massive speed capabilities) causes 0 difference in speed. Is this SKY throttling my connection back from what it was or something i'm missing? Line Stats Are as Follows:
DSL Status: UP
DSL Modulation Mode: Auto
DSL Path Mode: INTERLEAVED
Downstream Rate: 2048 Kbps
Upstream Rate: 416 Kbps
Downstream Margin: 9 db
Upstream Margin: 14 db
Downstream Line Attenuation: 58
Upstream Line Attenuation: 63
Downstream Transmit Power: 16
Upstream Transmit Power: 8
LOS Errors: 0

Re: Broadband Connects For A Second Then Drops
I'm more concerned about the upload rather than the download
I access my computer remotely through SSH quite frequently and need top speeds out of that!
I'll contact Sky to get them to remove the cap, anyone got a freephone number for them?
