LCP & Disconnection?
Okay every day and once a day my net goes down for less than a minute. Now my friend told me to take a look at the router logs. This is what was there after the net came back up from less than a minute down time:
Fri, 2008-10-17 16:58:40 - Loss of synchronization :3
Fri, 2008-10-17 16:59:01 - LCP down.
Fri, 2008-10-17 16:59:02 - Initialize LCP.
Fri, 2008-10-17 16:59:02 - LCP is allowed to come up.
Fri, 2008-10-17 17:00:03 - Initialize LCP.
Fri, 2008-10-17 17:00:03 - LCP is allowed to come up.
Fri, 2008-10-17 17:00:06 - CHAP authentication success
Fri, 2008-10-17 17:00:40 - Administrator login successful - IP:192.168.0.4
I am not sure if I wish to seeing as their customer service is appalling and costs.
Any idea on what to do?

Basically the ADSL connection is dropping out:-

Could you please post your line stats so we can take a look?Regards

Re: LCP & Disconnection?
Your connection speed and noise margin are low. This suggests you have noise on your line. It can be internal or external wiring that is faulty. To show which you need to post your stats from the Test socket, which is located behind the Master socket faceplate.
If you do not have an NTE5 socket, unplug everything you have plugged into your extensions and plug the router only into the Master socket. If you are at all technically minded, unscrew the Master socket faceplate and remove the wire from terminal 3. This is the ring wire and is not required when using filters. This alone can make a very big difference.

Re: LCP & Disconnection?
As Isitme says, you need to post the stats from the master test socket.
However, if your SNR Margin was higher I would expect the full 16000kbps sync on that line giving you around 14meg throughput. So if you can pinpoint a noise issue i.e extensions or filters, you should be seeing those speeds!Regards

Re: LCP & Disconnection?
Hmmm there seems to allot of LCP errors these days, I've been experiencing LCP up/down errors over the last month and I've tried the usual tricks but I keep getting disconnections at random intervals. I got logged off WAR last night because of this error

Re: LCP & Disconnection?
Nothing obvious in your stats, except that you seem to be slightly capped. This may not be enough to stabilise your line. You should plug into your Test socket and see if you still get the dropouts, if you don't you will have to improve your internal wiring possibly by fitting a filtered faceplate. If you do still get dropouts, then you have 4 alternatives.
1) Ask BT or your rental provider to check your line for faults.
2) Phone Sky and ask them to further cap your connection to stabilise it
3) Instal James' CU FW and use it to set a higher noise margin.
4) Use MelsNotes to set the noise.
You might also want to use MelsNotes to get your detailed stats to see if they show anything. There is a possibility that something in your house, such as the CH pump is causing the drop.

Re: LCP & Disconnection?
Sorry forgot to mention I tried the test before, it still dropped and I'm using the XTE-2005 faceplate from ADSL Nation. Things were sweet for over 18 months then DLM happened and I HAD to be synced lower to 14xxxkbps when I was on 15xxkbps.
Now for the last month I've been getting intermittent connection. It didn't bother me before but I'm playing Warhammer Online with some friends and I've been logged out 3 times because of the intermittent connection.
I'm not sure what the CU FW does. I'll have to check later but for now here's what Mel says:

Re: LCP & Disconnection?
On the face of it your stats don't look too bad, but they are showing that your connection has dropped. Unfortunately it is the worst type of drop, as it looks like it is being caused by a sudden increase in the error rate over a very short period. Maybe just a few seconds.
This can be caused by a multitude of things, from your washing machine switching on to the air conditioning in the local cinema or bingo hall switching on. Even a neon light near your phone line can cause the problem. If you can tie down the actual time that this is occurring, it may be a pointer to the source of the interference. James67 made a small utility to track the noise margin over a period of time, but I can't locate it at the moment. Maybe one of the members who has been around for a while can remember which thread it is in.
