      Routers are designed to be on 24/7 and if your modem is combined DLM may rear it's ugly head even with a graceful shutdown. If you want to zero carbon your router then I would suggest a powerbank/battery and a solar panel/turbine. Perfectly doable for a device with such low power requirements. Easier still would be use a green/zero carbon energy provider.

      Just remember the planet's gonna be fine. Yes we may bugger it all up, kill ourselves and everything else (except the water bears cos they ain't got time for that) and cause another ice age or waterworld, but the planet willl be fine.
