Please post your router stats.

To be honest i don't really think you are going to get a much better speed than you are currently getting as you are nearly out of range for even being able to get broadband. One of the only hopes you will have is by trying the TCP Optimizer see the first link in my signature.

how does tcp optimizer work?

It optimises the settings that govern the connection between the router and the PC. It does nothing to improve your router connection.
If you want help to improve your speed we need to start with the router stats otherwise the rest is meaningless.

not brill downstream as i did have 2560kbps last night then it dropped to 608kbps

OK - that tells us that your router is synced at 1120kbps which should give a throughput (download speed) of ~900kbps.
Your noise margin at 6db shows that the router is probably syncing at the maximum for your current line condition.
If previously you were getting a sync of 2560kbps then something has changed with your physical connection.
The first thing to do is to connect to your test socket (hidden inside your master if you have an NTE5). The stats from this will tell whether the problem is with your home wiring or your BT line. For the test you must use just the supplied router cable and a filter i.e. no plug in extension, phone, splitter etc.

here are my new stats
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1184 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 63.5 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 5.6 db 15.0 db

If those are from your test socket then the problem lies with your BT line.
