Re: FAQ for Sky broadband - Please read first!
I'm happy enough with my Sky Broadband (Max) service but, ever the pessimist, I have a question about what happens if something goes wrong with my Sky-supplied router - which I confess I tend to leave on all the time. If it ever packs up (as it surely will one day) will Sky replace it F.O.C. and, if so, how long are they likely to take to do so? From reading these forums, it would appear I have to use a Sky router and can't just substitute any old router I might have hanging around the house. Therefore, presumably I'll be offline (unthinkable!) until I can get a replacement from Sky? Anyone got any thoughts on this? For example, can I acquire a second sky router from somewhere to act as a standby in case of disaster? Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

Re: FAQ for Sky broadband - Please read first!
From reports on the forum, Sky will replace a faulty router foc, even outside the warranty period. Delivery 4-5 days. There is nothing to stop you configuring any router to connect to Sky for use as a standby. It is against the T & Cs but I don't think Sky would object too much if it is just used as a standby. I don't think this is any different from using a Sky router not actually issued to you.

Thanks for that, Isitme. Is it difficult, though, to configure a non-Sky router to work with Sky?

Re: FAQ for Sky broadband - Please read first!
No, normally all you need are the username and password from the Sky router and enter them in the appropriate place in the non-Sky router. Occasionally, depending on the router, there may be other settings to configure, but these are easy to obtain and enter.

Hi everyone,
Awaiting reply from Sky feedback on LLU installation progress but they are just as much in the dark as me..
Seems Sky's investment program has stalled with no LLU equipment scheduled for the near future throughout UK..
My local exchange already has several LLU's including BE-O2 and Orange but not unfortunately Sky.
Like many peopleI am forced to use ''Connect'' because of this.
Sky subsidy for this service runs out early in Newyear so will be forced by financial constraints to change my ISP unless they continue the subsidy..
Anybody heard about the Sky policy for LLU's?Last edited by SilverFox2; 19-12-08 at 01:15 PM.

Re: FAQ for Sky broadband - Please read first!
Usually if Sky give a discount they intend to upgrade he exchange. Which exchanges are being done and when seems to be a well kept secret. It could be with the persistent rumour that Sky are taking over Tiscali, they have paused the upgrades till the deal is done. They may not want to upgrade exchanges Tiscali have already unbundled.
I personally was on the discounted rate 3 months past the initial 6 month period, if they intend upgrading your exchange, they will continue with the discount. If they don't, then O2 look like a good bet.

Re: FAQ for Sky broadband - Please read first!
Hi there, I've ordered Sky broadband and Sky talk for my main phone line. However, in my bedroom I am using a seperate BT line just for broadband. Does the Sky broadband have to be on the same line as the Sky talk line? or can I use the Sky broadband connection on a m other line in the house?!
Thanks

The broadband would be delivered via whatever phone number (and therefore corresponding line) that you gave to Sky for the broadband when you ordered it.
