      Sky Broadband Super Slow

      Hi all,

      My Sky Broadband was activated on the 19th of November and when I looged into the router i was getting an Upstream and Downstream of 288Kbps. I spoke to tier 3 after many hours of phoen calls and was told I had been set up on off-net Connect and that I would be upgraded to offnet Max.

      This went through on the 26th and my router now shows a downstream of 8128kbps and an upstream of 448kbps. As of now (4pm on the 27th) I still get maximum download speeds of around 288kbps. Ive NEVER had any higher.

      Sky said they dont know what he problem is and have raised the issue with BT.

      Does anyone have any idea what the problem would be? I have plugged straight into my main socket and am using the cable, not the wireless connection.

      Router stats are showing as
      Connection Speed 8128 kbps 448 kbps
      Line Attenuation 23 db 6 db
      Noise Margin 10 db 23 db

      Any help greatly appreciated, more than 5 hours on calls to SKy's help centre is driving me seriously insane!

      I would say you are still on Connect as this seems to be indicated by your upload speed. With your SNR and attenuation you would get pretty near the maximum if you were on MAX. I think you may have been talking to someone who was not very clued up. I think you are on Connect and your Profile has 'stuck'. Phone them back and ask them to put you through to someone who can contact BT on your behalf. It used to be Tier2, but I don't know what it is called now. With a bit of luck, one of the Skybods will come on and maybe advise you what to say.

      Ask what package you are on, the base and mid packages have uploads of 416, this is a clue you're on connect. It sounds like connect because even though your sync rate may be 8128 (another connect standard) the BT line rate is probably set to adsl250. In fact forget all that speel, u r on connect.
      It doesn't get better than this band lol
