Problems
Hey guys, I just reformatted my friend's PC. It's all booted up and shiz, he's installed all the Sky Broadband stuff but the internet just isn't working. His Xbox Live is, but not his computer's internet. He's rebooted the router, checked all the connections but nothing. Also, the number 1 light on the router is off. Any ideas? It was working before the reformat.

Re: Problems
No. 1 is a network port which would suggest that there is a problem with the PC network card or cable. One of the ports 1 - 4 should be lit if a PC is connected to the router.

Re: Problems
I have a feeling without motherboard drivers installed, the integrated network card won't work?

Re: Problems
iKettles, When you reformatted and installed, If you use the OEM software, It usually includes all the drivers anyhow?
Like NIC, Sound Card, Graphics ect, But again, If not, Then you might need to do them manually.

Re: Problems
I've located a working set of drivers, but I'm unsure how to install them. There's a .cat, .inf and a .sys file.

Re: Problems
You would need to
Start -> Right Click on My Computer/Computer hit "Manage" -> Device Manager (on Left bit) -> Locate the NIC Card on the list -> Right Click, Update Driver -> Then Browse for Driver, and Point to the place you saved those .inf, .sys files.

Re: Problems
Go to the Device Manager, right click the Network card, it may be shown as 'Other Hardware', and select Properties. When the pane opens click the Reinstall Driver button. When the wizard opens select 'Install from a specific location' and point it to where you have the driver. Follow the Wizard.
Sometimes you can install by right clicking the Inf file and selecting Instal
