We just moved into a new house. The previous owners were on TalkTalk but hadn't bothered to close their account so the line was still open. To cut a long story, BT told us that to the quickest thing would be to get a new line (which was the same £124 cost as converting the old line back from TalkTalk) - I went with the minimum package to just pay the line rental. This connection will be done this week.
My question re Sky is - if I now go with Sky+, Sky Talk Anytime and Sky BB Max (Samknows reports our exchange as Sky LLU'd) - will I then have to pay the £70 to BT to cancel the new contract with them ? - or will it not affect the BT line rental contract ?
If so, is there a better way of doing this to reduce that cost ?

You could actually save the £124 by not getting a new line installed as you dont really need it, BT should be able to re-claim the line once the TalkTalk account closes down.
Sky Broadband installs itself on top of the BT line, It doesnt effect the Line Rental neither does the Sky Talk, As that is just another "add-on" to the line.
You will continue to pay £11 (or whatever plan your on) Line Rental to BT and then Sky Bill you for your Broadband and Calls you make over the Sky Talk service.
