New Router to solve problems ?
Hi to all firstly.
Just changed to Sky from Pipex, Had nothing but issues since day 1.
Have spoken to tech support and after net dropping at around 9pm ish 2 nights in a row.
Was told to check cables etc , plug int test and master socket and eventually got o speak to tier 3.
Out come was suposedly forced line, incorrect settings. was set at 2.9mb and told should be fine now you wont have any issues.
17mins later bang line drops again, powered off router thenback on managed to get online long enough to send email to tech support.
Next morning had to call again, told we will sent a new router out 3-5 working days.
Only thing to have changed since switch over was SKy and their router , had 2.2 mb running fine for 8 months, and 1.5mb for 2.5years wthout issue, even during speed change.
Cant be bothered waiting 35 days so plugged in my 8month old netgear router ( not GT version) entered my un and pw and left it on , 8 hours solid no disconects then it drops for a few secs around 930pm reconnects its self and still no probs. SO router seems to be issue, possibly.
Anyone else had to have a router swapped out yet????
I would be hapy if my net with router stays on all the time with a speed of 2.5 - 2.9 however when I was told last night that my line was now set to 2.9 I discovered this morning no sir set to 3.5. Router currently runnin at 3.5.
Good thing is that Sky are going to credit me for my 2hours on phone to them and also going to find out why i am still paying nearly £10.00 per month for my sky talk.

Have you turned the UPnP off?

Re: New Router to solve problems ?
Yes , Have had it switched off.
Had all the usual lines from Sky," it's your cables, filters, phone distance from main socket etc." prob is that service had been working fine with pipex for 3 years , no issues apart from billing, Could play WOW ok without hitch, no lag , easy to watch video etc.
Now wi sky seems that if new router doesnt work then I can only say issue with exchange.
