Just Wondering (Q from a New Sky BB Max User)
Do you feel that websites load quite slowly in the evening?
I mean with speed test results like this:
No.1 should I be getting the full 16mbps ?
No. 2 Is my website problem normal or is it me demanding too much.
Surely on 10-16Mb broadband pages should load instantly and they are taking 1-2 seconds after pressing enter.

Re: Just Wondering (Q from a New Sky BB Max User)
EDIT: Just run another speedtest, this time from [http://www.broadbandmax.co.uk]
and it gives me this.

Just seems that pages don't load instantly like they should at that speed.Last edited by gill07; 14-08-07 at 06:04 PM.

Re: Just Wondering (Q from a New Sky BB Max User)
If your download speeds are fine then slow page loading is probably a DNS problem.
Many users (me included) find Sky's DNS very inconsistent and have switched to other free public DNS servers. Many favour OpenDNS (see half way down on the right on their home page for instructions on how to use - note you need to enter this in each PC not the router).
That's the first thing I'd try.

Re: Just Wondering (Q from a New Sky BB Max User)
Hi, now running on those servers.
However still loads slow.
A good 5-10 seconds now for a simple page.
ANd 2-3 just for Google.
Only happening now, was fine earlier
Is this just traffic congestion.
I never got it with AOL.
However download speed tests are giving 14Mbbs download so I'm sure d/l and upload are fine.
But websites are loading atrociously.
Using the new DNS Servers.
And can't get into MySky anymore, keeps on timing out.

Re: Just Wondering (Q from a New Sky BB Max User)
Also just run a speedtest from:
Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test.
Which says I'm on:
And from speedtest.broadbandmax.co.uk
Which says I'm on 16.2Mbbs
But pages loading slow, and just tried to download SP2 from Microsoft (even though I have it) to see what transfer rates, and they started as low as 23!!!!
Got to a max of 216!
I was on 1872kbps earlier.

Re: Just Wondering (Q from a New Sky BB Max User)
Could be a problem with your exchange I guess.
Just in case, won't help you with an exchange fault of course, but it might be worth flushing the DNS cache too.

Re: Just Wondering (Q from a New Sky BB Max User)
OK so difference in scenario now.
Now getting speedtests of 15-18Mbps download and 0.7 up.
Which is good.
However pages still slow.
And can't get into Remote Record (as part of MySky) or check e-mails (which I could earlier).

Re: Just Wondering (Q from a New Sky BB Max User)
Would congestion be a problem as it seems alot better now.
