      Replacing ER115 with Netgear Nighthawk

      Hi,

Apologies I think this has been answered in various forms throughout the years, but the more I read the more questions I seem to have.

I'm having real problems with the connectivity of the Q Hub, with poor or no wireless signal in some rooms. The bandwidth also seems to be poor. If an Xbox is downloading updates, downloads on my Sky HD box just pretty much stop. The same can be said on other devices as well.

So I've been looking around and a friend has recently bought the Nighthawk D7800 which has an inbuilt modem. But reading these forums many suggest having a separate modem and router so I've also looked at the R7800. I just wanted opinions if possible on which way to go. If I go the separate route with the R7800, will this work with the ER115? I understand the D7800 should just about work out of the box.

      Thanks.

Have used separate devices for years.. most of the netgears need to run additional firmware to be able to support option 61 as needed for sky. You also need a modem in bridge mode if you want to use your own router that is not a modem/router device.
Asus router only devices are worth a look too and very easy to configure if you load up Merlin as this will support option 61.

Your er115 wont work in modem mode.

Ref the d7800. Have a look as might help.
