BT Infinity 2 -> Sky Fibre Pro

I'm moving by broadband from BT to Sky now Sky are offering it in my area, mainly to bring billing all together in 1 place etc.

I've just received my Sky Hub SR102 and after reading up on the specs - it's terrible

Anyway, I've already sniffed the username/password from the router so when the line is switched to Sky, can I simple enter these credentials in my existing BT HH5 and everything will work just fine?

Bit confused with all the (mainly older) threads about whether this will work with all the VDSL stuff - but I'm expecting that as the BT HH5 is fibre, and I've essentially swapped like-for-like services this should be possible?

AFAIK the BT HH5 does not have provision to enter user credentials using DHCP option 61 (client unique identifier).

...and I believe the Hub5 will only work on BT lines, ie, it would work with Plusnet, but not Sky. So don't count on using it.

Re: BT Infinity 2 -> Sky Fibre Pro

Yup - looks like the username is locked down in the HH5.
Ah well will just have to the the Sky POS with WiFi off and use the HH5 as the WAP.
I was going to be upgrading to Q after I get the Sky BB sorted, but that router although better, still doesn't have Gigabit ports so something better long term will clearly be needed!

The sky q hub has two gigabit ports.
If you are a new customer, you may be offered the sky q hub, perhaps without sky q.
The sky shop T&Cs for a new broadband customer names a sky q hub for mew broadband customers.
You can always ask for one

Re: BT Infinity 2 -> Sky Fibre Pro

I did ask, but they couldn't send the new Q router with the new order - so I got the old SR102.
Good news about the Sky Q being gigabit - thought I read somewhere they were not.

Either way - looks like an upgrade to something better is needed anyway for my eventual whole-house solution.
