sky fibre pro-sync rate difference between vdsl modems - suggestions please

      Hi,

Having just moved to sky fibre pro from fibre unlimited I have found a strange issue with sync rates when testing at the master socket between the netgear d7000 and sky sr102. I have noticed on the pro service my d7000 will only sync at 49mb where as the sr102 is syncing at 56mb - wish it was more but so I am told after the open reach engineers visit today due to my location 56mb will be the highest I can get for now. Anyway I was hoping someone can suggest a modem only option which might give me the same sync up as the sr102. I don't want to connect to the sr102 to the internet port on the d7000 as the sr102 does not have gigabit port and when I tested this my network became very sluggish and affected my download rate, my home network is all gigabit bar the sky box..

I spoke with netgear but they really couldn't offer any support on why the d7000 is syncing at a slower rate so if anyone might have any ideas it would be appreciated, alternatively what 3rd party modem only could I try but must have a gigabit port. I am not bothered about any other features as the d7000 is doing all the other stuff on my network just fine.. model types appreciated..

      Many thanks for any help.

Could it be chipset compatibility with the router/cabinet?

      Hi Tom

Yes that appears to be the case. The TP vr900 is now syncing at the same speed as the sr102. Maybe the tp link works better than netgear with ECI based cabinets..

      Cheers
