sync speed - Mainly upload - Help

      Hello,

Since last week the speed at which I sync to the Exchange has decreased. I used to connect at 20MB and the upload was about 3MB. My PC is wired to the SR102 which is in the master socket (filtered faceplate) without any extensions.

I did some trace routes to google and the bbc and the response time on some hops was over 700ms.

This has now settled down and I am back at under 30ms per hop. However my sync speed for download has dropped to 18.5MB and the upload to 465KB. The upload speed used to be about 3500KB

I have contacted Sky and they have said there is nothing they can do to increase the upload speed, they only work off the download speed.

I asked if they could re-profile the line and they said that it is not possible with the fibre connection.

Is it possible from my end to force the connection at a higher speed?

      Any thoughts greatly received.

      Thanks

      Andrew

There is nothing you can do yourself to increase the speed, only BTO through Sky can do that. Another member found the only way to increase his speed was to go to BT. If you are out of contract or not receiving the speed you were promised that may be your only option. A mere threat to move may be enough to get them to do something. Apart from the low download speed, 465kb upload is a ridiculous speed for Fibre. It is fairly obvious there is a bad fault on your line.

Thank you for your quick response.

They have done a speed test (downloading a file and a line check and found nothing wrong)

I will try and lodge a complaint. I am not asking for the world.

Consequently I have had another line put in for work (fibre connection) and that syncs at 20MB and around 3MB for the upload. Unfortunately I am still in contract.

If you check under the security logs and see that two references to 'Bearer' (Bearer 0 & Bearer 1) then G.INP has been introduced - this is a new form of DLM protocol that is helping 'most' lines to become more stable and increase the speed.
