      Speed Falling Away, Ping Rising

      Hello,

Had SFUP installed on 18th February.

      Stats then were :

      Attainable rate (kbit/s) 107816 39717
      SNR margin (dB) 13.9 18.6
      Line attenuation (dB) 0 0
      Output power (dBmV) 12.8 5

      Line rate (kbit/s) 79987 20000

By 27th February my stats had become :

      Attainable rate (kbit/s) 94800 39490
      SNR margin (dB) 10.4 18.5
      Line attenuation (dB) 0 0
      Output power (dBmV) 12.8 5

      Line rate (kbit/s) 79987 20000

Since then stats on my line have slowly been getting worse, with the downstream SNR margin reducing to appox 8.3dB. I stayed syncd at 79887 though. Today however, at approx 1200hrs, my modem resync'd of its own volition.

      My stats are now :

      Attainable rate (kbit/s) 92888 33770
      SNR margin (dB) 6.5 15.6
      Line attenuation (dB) 0 0
      Output power (dBmV) 12.7 6.7

      Line rate (kbit/s) 78629 20000

My pings have also increased from ~19ms to 30ms. Previously I had no CRC errors, now I'm currently sitting at 6061.

Any idea what's going on here - crosstalk? Line fault? DLM?

      Thanks in advance

Re: Speed Falling Away, Ping Rising

Just for future reference for anyone who experiences the same thing...

I eventually (last week) swapped my unlocked HG612 modem for an ECI model, as my street cabinet is an ECI one.

This morning at 0500hrs my modem quickly re-sync'd back at the original speed and back on fastpath - the interleaving had gone.

So I think there are indeed some truths in the matching modem to street cabinet rumours. Although I suppose it could also just be coincidence...
