      Congestion issue? (Not again!!!)

      I had congestion related issue which was fixed last week but yesterday (Sun 23 Feb) my connection went to pot again!

      Have checked sky's exchange checker and my exchange (New Southgate) and Master exchange (Palmers green) are showing as unaffected.

      Scubbie - If you could check if there is a problem I'd be very grateful!

      Have you checked that is actually your graph? Possibly your IP address has changed and you are seeing someone else's figures.

      Doh! Your right Isitme - Not my graph! Sorry for the guy who's it is! Connection is fine today, during the day. If it gets worse at peak time I'll call sky.

      As I suspected. I have had a similar issue with my IP address changing 4 times in 5 days. Previous to this I had the same IP for weeks. At first I couldn't understand it when my monitor was a solid red block but my internet was fine. I then twigged what had happened and now have to check my IP every day. That is the biggest problem with the TB monitor, it is designed to work with a fixed address, not dynamic addressing which we have.

      There is definately a problem with my connection - Connection went really slow again last night and playing xbox online was a joke, really bad lag. I called sky last night after being on hold for 30mins the guy said there is nothing wrong their end nor at my exchange. Could it related to ipv6?... SKY JUST MUGGING US ALL OFF - Sky Community

      I doubt that very much. The writer who suggests this gives no reason why it should interfere with your speed. He/she has probably read about IPv6 somewhere and makes an assumption. A link to an article discussing this would have been useful. Sky are not using IPv6 at the moment and probably will not do for a number of years. As the protocol is just another way to give out addresses on the internet, how can it slow anything down?

      Yeah, Im probably clutching at straws with that one!

      I've hooked up my sky router to see if it does it again tonight so at least I'm ready if I have to call sky!

      Yes very unlikely, but the poster in that thread didn't seem to wish to consider the more likely suggestions as to what might be the cause - so I backed away...

      Yeah I noticed that. He's obviously really P'd off!

      My connection has again, tonight, from around 8pm gone very bad! - Maxing out at a whopping 1.4Mb/s down and 9Mb/s up.

      I can't be bothered to call sky tonight but will tomorrow.

      It definitely feels like a congestion related issue at the exchange as it has all the symptoms!
