Yes it is. The max theoretical throughput on the Sky hub over wifi is 72 Mbps but in the real world it will never reach that sort of speed.

The best wifi speed I can get on my laptop is around 49 Mbps with my non-Sky router which has much better wifi than a Sky hub.

No its not, the Sky Hub and the Sagem 2504N both output 144mbps. To get this speed you need a compatible adapter, one with a 300mbps rating.

      Re: SR102 Alternatives?

      I beg to differ.

I purposefully transferred content between my laptop and a NAS and achieved around 80mb/s over a sustained period of time.

The Laptop in question was connecting at 144mbps (it had a 300mbps adaptor) and the NAS was connected via a Network Switch to the SR101.

Using Windows 7, I used the Windows Explorer figures to show me what the transfer speed was working at.

However when it comes to the Internet the actual performance does drop. Even with a different router today I am getting around 30-40mb/s over WiFi from the speedtest.net site.

I had no idea about that, I just assumed you'd get the full speed of your connection over WiFi? Why can a router not push the full speed?

I guess that the router's firewall, etc., are slowing things down.

Your not using the wifi booster sky were giving away are you? I was getting a significant drop in wifi speed when using the booster. Eventually i figured out the booster was acting up. Turned it off and moved the router to a better spot.
